Parliament
Well hi there,

Last week mainly consisted of getting to know Ottawa, Colm's sister coming up from Toronto to see us, Colm falling in love with a bear and finally some lumber jacking in quebec.

With the weather still keeping well above normal temperatures Colm and I took a few trips into the city to scope out the local talen.......eh local scenery. With Ottawa being the capital city of Canada, the inner city looks the part with a good combination of shops, restaurants and beautiful pedestrian areas. I took a few more pictures of the parliament buildings as they define Ottawa's scenery no matter where you are in the city. I also took a picture of Colm falling head over heels with a bear....Meagan i'm so sorry but the bear was kind of pretty and brought free fish for us to eat....
We also took a walk round the canal which runs through the city. It's a stunning site with boats and canoes yes canoes all passing down the city as you walk by. The canal freezes over in the winter which makes it the longest skating rink in the world....i can't wait to make a fool of myself......

A few guys we met...very quiet???

As a side quest we went looking for the "Irish Village". A supposed mystical area where four Irish bars lay side by side with one big beer garden out back where everyone and anyone can chat and drink for hours at reasonable prices....no such place could possibly exist i hear you say......be ye be wrong.. for we found this paradise on our travels through the city. All the bars are owned by one couple from Derry and like all Irish bars in North America the "Irish" staff are more than happy to turn on the TV and let you watch American football or ice hockey!!😊

Colm's sister Roisin paid us a visit last Friday week. She's working in Toronto which is only a 5 hour trip away (nothing really when it takes 4days non stop travelling to cross the country). Naturally we ended up in the Irish Village.....where a great night was had by all.

The following day we all headed up to Meagan's home place for thanksgiving dinner (if your reading this Meagan, once again compliments to your mum for a super tasty meal)

Meagan's mum asked myself and colm if we would like to

The Canal
cut some trees during last week to use for fuel for the cold winter. Being the nice and great guys that we are we of course said yes. My thoughts of cutting trees would be taking a saw to a few branches....wrong!!!!.......reality was that we had to spilt large tree trunks into small firewood! Thankfully they owned a machine called a "splitter" which as the name suggests takes these large logs and splits them...don't be fooled however, the machine does not carry the large logs, which i would estimate weighed the same as a small whale, over to be split, nor does it stack them after...this was up to Colm and I. All was going great until we broke the splitter...due to legal reasons i cannot comment any further. I would like to once again apologise to Megan's father tho and remind him that Colm was closer to the machine when it broke😊

well that's all the fun for now folks. As always keep in touch with the happenings back home.

Later.....
