The integrity of my blog has been questioned! Fortunately a neutral third party review found in my favour. And from the talk this weekend, no one wants to be featured in the blog! Guess I shouldn’t be surprised. But to suggest that I exaggerate? Or lie? Come on! You know me better than that. Complete honesty. I’m actually editing the real crazy stuff out! Why do weird things always happen to me as soon as I start travelling? Tbag to Niagara. Air Canada. World’s smoothest check in! On the plane, waiting to go. Everyone is on, waiting. Then a family of seven gets on. Of course they are all dragging suitcases. Two little kids get on first and start heading down the aisle. Then the dad gets on. He has a big beard, so already one ... read more
ROAD TRIP! Family style
Published: July 16th 2011North America » Canada » Ontario » Niagara-On-The-LakeThere is a certain romance to the road trip. Family members packed into a van travelling through small towns and countryside where you may never travel to again. Mixed in with the mandatory food and bathroom breaks there is a quality to a road trip that is difficult to define. Currently Jo and I are travelling through Ontario with a final destination of Ottawa with her family and all of their significant others. It’s not like you have a choice of your travel companions when travelling with family but the road trip was almost made for people closest to you. The people that you can road trip with are ones that you can stay in close proximity with (usually in a minivan) for a long period of time. I think I have been so used to ... read more

Goin to the Chapel...
Published: August 26th 2010North America » Canada » Ontario » Niagara-On-The-LakeGetting married likely deserves an entry of it's own. After all, the journey of a life together, is likely the most epic trip, barring child rearing, that one takes in life. However, for the purposes of brevity and in holding true to the central character of travel blog.org this entry will focus mainly on the events that took place following the festivities. Once the quilts were folded up and put into storage, and the bicycles stuffed hastily into our shed, after the hangovers had faded, and the dancing shoes peeled off our sore and sweaty feet. Once the presents had been opened and the cake eaten, we began a journey East that would take us to Toronto, Montreal, Quebec city, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and New York City. The itinerary was ambitious and ... read more

Day Thirteen- June 26, 2010 Tampa to Montreal Tour
Published: July 3rd 2010North America » Canada » Ontario » Niagara-On-The-LakeNext stop is Niagara-on-the-Lakes, by way of Toronto. I mentioned the G8 and G20 Summits being conducted in Toronto at this time. Well, apparently as we were driving the bypass, there were some major riots going on in downtown Toronto. Once again we are very fortunate to take the road less travelled and stay on the peaceful side of the streets. All roads are not without some challenges. As we drove towards Niagara, we had cars passing us, honking, and yelling that our wheel looked loose. We pulled over, and saw that the rim was bent; the tire tube developed a bubble, and the illusion of a wobble. We pull over to a funeral home, and they generously offer the use of their garage to change the tire. In less than an hour we are off ... read more
So, the day after Niagara Falls, Rach and I made our way to Niagara-On-The-Lake, a small town around 30 minutes from the falls themselves. The town is where the river Niagara meets Lake Ontario and was a proudly loyalist town during the civil war. When we arrived, we realised that there wasn't really that much to do and it was very touristy, with lots of little shops (and expensive shops). The tourists all seemed to be of a more senior age and there seemed to be little for young hip travellers like us to do!!! :-) We took a walk down to the Lake itself which was very tranquil and unfortunately due to the fact it was cloudy we couldn't see Toronto on the far shore of the lake, which apparently is very clear on a ... read more
This summer we did quite a bit of traveling on our own continent, for a change. As always we had a fantastic time visiting with our families in Boston and Madison this summer, and especially enjoyed introducing our parents (and families) to each other for the very first time. We also spent a weekend in Minneapolis for a few days with Sarah and James and got to see the city and checkout the sky walk system there (which is really cool!). Lastly we headed up to Canada for a weekend. We went to Niagra on the Lake for a wedding, wine tastings and to check out Niagra Falls. Check out some pics of our trip to the Falls, from the Canadian side. What's cool about the Canadian side is that you get to see a full ... read more
