Nova Scotia Travel Blogs

Background: A land of vast distances and rich natural resources, Canada became a self-governing dominion in 1867 while retaining ties to the British crown. Economically and technologically the nation has developed in parallel with the US, its neighbor to the south across an unfortified border. Canada's paramount political problem is meeting public demands for quality improvements in health care and education services after a decade of budget cuts. The issue of reconciling Quebec's francophone heritage with the majority anglophone Canadian population has moved to the back burner in recent years; support for separatism abated after the Quebec government's referendum on independence failed to pass in October of 1995.

Enjoying a tankard of the cold stuff.
Okay, so after a fairly long break from Travelblogging, I've come back onto here to write a secret update all about our Honeymoon. So if you're reading this, don't mention it to Laura as it's a big secret... So why Honeymoon Canada and not somewhere like the Seychelles? Well, the bargain price flights in August was a big reason, which was pretty much why we didn't have a clue what we were actually going to do for our three weeks until we arrived! And anyone who's read out other blogs probably knows that we're not really sit-around-for-two-weeks type holidayers so we [View Full Entry]

Dramas on bus - Got off at Montreal to find the BIGGEST, most unorganised line ever. People everywhere. I lined up, but it looked like the bus was going to overfill, and me and a couple of guys I was talking to in the line were hoping it would, so that we could all get seats to ourselves and stretch out. I get to the front of the line, and am told that I have to go back to the information booth, because my pass isn’t good for this busline, I need an actual ticket. Frickety. So I go and line [View Full Entry]

Then we headed to more little villages all of which started to look the same very pretty and great shops which we could buy anything in. Finally we got to the campsite, which was sooooo cool as it had TeePees which we were sleeping in and a great river called the Mersey. We all headed [View Full Entry]

After our wild west adventures with the olds, Rich and I have left mum and dad in Toronto baby sitting Hannah and William. It was very sad saying goodbye to Marta and my beautiful niece and nephew, I had a great time this year being so close to them and will miss that a lot. After dad dropped us off at Hamilton airport (which by the way has to be the quietest and most relaxed airport I have ever been to!) we few an hour and a half to Halifax moving into yet another time zone, the Atlantic provinces. Hi Everyone Well a lot has happened since our last entry. Sorry about the long wait. We decided on a 2 day trip to see Niagra Falls to get out of the city for a few days. Part of the trip included a wine tasting session we tried the red the white then the Canadian delicacy 'iced wine' which is locally called (liquid gold) sweet and tasty, YUM! We did the maid of the mist and got soaked despite the poncho's provided. This is a boat that goes really close to the falls, you don't see much of the falls cos [View Full Entry]

So, we leave tomorrow. Yes, I'll have to get something for everyone (So much stuff!) I'd have prefered to post just before our flight, but tomorrow our internet get's disconnected and I'd rather post before we leave, just to see everyone off. Don't call me, lol, our phone is disconnected, too. Customs is going to suck, but thankfully the flight leaves at 11:30 at night. Sleep the jetlag off. Hopefully, theres an internet cafe or something in England, so I can send you pictures of us from there. Check back sometime on Wednesday or Thursday, I'll have pictures! [View Full Entry]

WOO HOO!!! Yes we are in Halifax and have arrived safely at Keith and Carrie Haggett's. We drove by our future home and also had a look in another house that was having an open house...Lynne wanted to have a nosey! We left Quebec city after wandering around in the rain on Thursday and travelled to Rivier du Loup which is on the St. Laurence river. Friday we drove into New Brunswick, stopped at Grand Falls for a little wander about and then moved on to Gagetown. We ended up in a really nice B&B just by the St. John river. [View Full Entry]

The motor yacht Blue Moon has been quite an adjustment from the normal 9 to 5 job and lifestyle we’re all used to. My day’s have consisted of scrubbing decks, polishing stainless steel, cleaning windows, and doing it all again the next day. I work in the ‘deck department’ with 3 other deckhands, one from South Africa and two from England. Our team’s main responsibility is the exterior of this 198’ Feadship yacht. We handle the lines and fenders when docking and transport the guests to and from the yacht when we are at anchor. The other toys, which inclu [View Full Entry]
