Peggy's Cove Travel Blogs

Background: A land of vast distances and rich natural resources, Canada became a self-governing dominion in 1867 while retaining ties to the British crown. Economically and technologically the nation has developed in parallel with the US, its neighbor to the south across an unfortified border. Canada's paramount political problem is meeting public demands for quality improvements in health care and education services after a decade of budget cuts. The issue of reconciling Quebec's francophone heritage with the majority anglophone Canadian population has moved to the back burner in recent years; support for separatism abated after the Quebec government's referendum on independence failed to pass in October of 1995.

On the way out of P.E.I we picked up a bag of P.E.I. irish potatoes-yum....and went back over that long-long bridge. Nova Scotia wasn't that that far, just a few minutes through New brunswick and your there. First thoughts was no one lives here. After the visitor Center there are miles of just hill and trees. we drove south to a campground northwest of Halifax and stayed the night. Next morning we drove noth west to Windsor (I think the 5th we have driven through on this trip) to see the south side of the bay of Fundy. From there we [View Full Entry]

Anyway we had a great little trip out to Peggy's cove but couldn't see a thing as the fog was as thick as pea soup!! or clam chowder as they serve out here! Then we headed to more little villages all of which started to look the same very pretty and great shops which we could buy anything in. Finally we got to the campsite, which was sooooo cool as it had TeePees which we were sleeping in and a great river called the Mersey. We all headed [View Full Entry]

Good morning. It is a beautiful Sunday morning here in Peggys Cove. I am sitting on our bed looking out the the famous lighthouse. Wow!!! Now I have actually moved out onto our deck. We are right on the ocean. I sure love the salty air smell. Well yesterday went fairly snoothly considering that it was a travel day. We caught our flight at 11am and arrived in Halifax 8pm. We only had about 45 mins in TO. Just enough time for Brett and I to spllit a pita and an ice tea. Later we would be very glad that we [View Full Entry]

Hallo Ihr Lieben, da wir nicht wissen, ob unsere Internet Connection hier noch lange hält, schreiben wir schon mal vor und halten soweit alles wichtige - oder zumindest das was uns wichtig erscheint - festzuhalten. Let´s start with da good news: Unser Bulli ist da, faleri und falera!!!

Ours is not intended to be so much a diary of events, but more an endeavour to capture our observations, our memories and our experiences of the past within the imagination, much as one would in a photograph. Atlantic Canada’s most photographed site is Peggy’s Cove. With the houses of this tiny village clinging to the weathered hillside at the edge of Margaret’s Bay, the Atlantic beats against the granite bouldered coast. The lighthouse is perched on 400 million year old granite, it also serves as a post office in the summer. Even with the clouds and showers there are lots of sightseers climbing on the rocks and snapping photos. Lunenburg is our next stop. It is a wooden-ship kind of town honored as a UNESCO world heritage site. It is one rainy day, as we get into [View Full Entry]
