Halifax in the Fog
The ferry was empty going to Halifax, full of worker commuters on the way back to Dartmouth When we saw that Hurricane Gabriel would appear in Nova Scotia as heavy rain today, we decided that this would be the day to do make some ferry reservations for Newfoundland, do laundry, buy a new suitcase for me, and walk the streets of Halifax and we accomplished all four.
We love Costco in Prescott and we loved it here, too. Such fun to look at products not offered at our store and compare the prices which are much higher here. We are staying in Dartmouth which is across the Bedford Basin of the Atlantic from Halifax. When we got here we took a toll bridge across, but today we took the ferry to Halifax's waterfront and downtown. It was a foggy ferry trip and the harbor area food stands were locked up and buskers were few and far between. At the harbor displays we learned about the transatlantic cable and the earthquake that tore it up. There are many Titanic references here as some survivors were brought to Halifax and many that perished were buried here. As always, people were friendly and interesting. For the first time in "New Scotland" I felt a connection to my own Scottish heritage,
the stores carry all things Scottish.
We are having a leisurely evening, but will be up early to head north to Cape Breton Island. I can put nice clean clothes in my nice new suitcase for the trip.

I think the fog/rain really adds to this photograph.
