busy time
Paul McCartney's concert took place in the Common at the end of our street - about 500m away so we sat on the porch with a bottle of wine and heard it all in comfort.
We'll send along a couple of blogs of our travels over the next 3 weeks.
Halifax is a great place to visit - we picked a B&B close to Downtown so we could walk everywhere. Spent 3 nights there. Highlights included: Pier 21(entry point for over a million immigrants to Canada), The Citadel, Maritime Museum and a lovely sail on the harbour. A surprise addition was being able to listen to the Paul McCartney concert held just meters away from our B&B in an outdoor venue.
On to Newfoundland.
We have been watching the weather closely - just as well as were able to change our boat cruise on Western Brook Pond to the morning - avoiding the afternoon rain.
The scenery really was spectacular, right up there with Milford Sound
the Mar
she is a registered 'Tall Ship' that has been around the world twice and now sails around Halifax Harbour. We were fortunate to have a perfect day on the water.

We are retired school principals (Peel, Ontario - Canada). Our fair weather home is at Sauble Beach at the base of the Bruce Peninsular.
We have a CS 34 sailboat that we have sailed from Lake Ontario to Wiarton, where we enjoyed 7 great seasons sailing around Georgian Bay and the North Channel.
In October 2008 we trucked "Gust O'Wind" to Deltaville, Virginia - planning to take her south to the Florida Keys and perhaps the Bahamas.

Western Brook pond is actually a former fiord that is now land locked. "Pond' is the Newfie equivalent of a lake.

there are a number of small waterfalls along the way
cruising
as usual, we are happy to be on the water!
east end
at the far east end after an hour by boat, you can disembark and take a 5 day hike back to civilization...we opted for the return trip on the boat.
moose
our first moose of the trip - seen by the road on the way to Cow Head.... some great place names here.
Lobster Point
this little lighthouse lights the way into the entrance of Bonne Bay and the town of Rocky Harbour where we stayed for 3 nights
