Treena has been in here in St johns for 3 days now, and this is my second. Yesterday we finished putting our bikes together, pumped up the tires, Treena popped one of mine, and went for a short, but brilliant ride along the coast and up through some hills. The bikes worked great, and the legs and lungs seem to be functioning pretty well.
Today we set off for a beautiful 3 hour hike along the East Coast Trail that startetd at the lighthouse at Cape Spear and brought us back to the house we are staying at here in Maddox Cove.
We are staying with Shelley and Bern who have been incredibly accomidating. Its been nice to sleep in a real bed, and have real meals, while trying to figure out my jet lag. Their house is right on the rocky coastline, decorated with driftwood, and old lobster traps, and 4 dogs, and 4 cats. There is still some snow on the ground, and the wind is still fairly frigid, but the days have been very nice.
Tnomorow is day 1. We plan on going around 70 km, and will probably end up camping wild somewhere. It doesnt seem
that any campsites are open here yet. Most wait for May long weekend, so we will be roughing it for a while. We have this cool
Route Map that we will update as we go, so you can follow with us.
