Good Spirit Lake, SKCamp site through the eyes of Eduardo the Frog (road trip mascot extraordinaire)
After we left Manitou Beach, SK we stopped in Yorkton, SK and Rhein (pronounced Ryan - anybody see how? Me neither) to visit my cousin and her family and my two uncles. It was really good to see them again - we spent some time visiting and what was supposed to be a quick stopover (I was thinking one or two hours) turned into an entire evening including supper and a trip to get ice cream. It was nice - I don’t see that side of my family often enough, and the realization that I was moving even further away and I see them even less made me a little sad.
After visiting, Anna and I stayed at Good Spirit Lake provincial Park, SK. We were just gonna stay one night but we were so exhausted from socializing for 5 days straight (I know - it’s a hard life right?) that we decided to stay an extra day and just chill. It was a beautiful campground with a beautiful beach and we had a great day lying in the sun and going hiking to see the sand dunes (check out the pics!).
On to Manitoba! Had the best campsite
ever at Moon Lake - no people around and overlooking the water. So gorgeous looking out at that view. Oh, and just want to mention a thank you to JOCE for noticing our crappy tent pegs in SK - we sure needed the heavy duty ones (ran out to C. Tire right away to buy some). They saved us in the Moon Lake camp site - ground like granite, goddammit!
Then on to Gimli, MB where we heard there was an awesome beach. And there was, but we didn’t get to experience it because the weather was crappy. Hotel for the night where we quickly transformed into electricity whores! (we now have a better inverter). Ah, but the next day the high winds were a perfect opportunity to try out our kites! Cheap quality, but a whole hour of fun while we waited for our hatchet to be sharpened at the local hardware store. Check out the pics and vid!
To sum up Saskatchewan and Manitoba - we have never seen so much roadkill as in Saskatchewan, and the roads are so straight that we almost fell asleep while driving (but didn’t - no worries!) In
Manitoba - the highways are horrible, but the liquor was cheap and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. I recommend camping in Manitoba to anyone - there are so many lakes and things to see - and like I said, cheap booze - hah!
Final note: can’t wait to be less pale - wooo-hooo!....although it hasn’t been sunbathing weather much lately. :(

Grrr... Gimli was a dwarf, darnit. Not a full-height norse viking! I hereby decree that Gimli MB. be stricken from the map until they can get it right!
Also, I'm super jealous. I wish I had the time/money for a road trip right about now.
