Nat and I managed to leave some of our stuff in storage so as to not have to cart it all around, I guess I'll try and post it when I get back to Vancouver if I can't be sure I will be allowed the second suitcase to Egypt....
We missed breakfast as we slept in for awhile, since we didn't have to leave Vancouver until 11.30am!! it was so bizzare after the past two months of regimented 7.45am departures.
The new contiki crew of 46 are a rowdy bunch, but it seems like it is going to be a fun group.
Our tour manager, Darren is nice and the bus driver 'The Chad' is a little odd... but more sheltered than anything from what I can tell.
Our tour guide loves pretty much the same music as us, which includes the retro 'PJ Gallaghers' type mix and country music which as you all know I wont be complaining about - although Nat isn't so sure!!!
our day song is something from Willie Nelson & Toby Keith (I think) and I think we are all really going to like it. The whole back of the bus,
BearA picture with the only safe bear there is, a stuffed one!
including us, have been singing along loudly and badly at the back of the bus, it's keeping us amused anyways.
We made our way through to Whistler today and it was just such a scenic trip, the town here is sooo beautiful that we are back to taking scenery shots again - Nat and i think that it would be a perfect place to come back and visit in the winter - even though I don't ski!!
They say that every third person here is Aussie, but we really haven't seen that many, although I can image that it will be a bit of a party town as there seems to be alot of young people getting around. They says it's popular as many people come up from vancouver for the weekend. So as you can imagine it's packed, they say it is the second most visited ski place in the summer next to a place in Switzerland.
This trip feels more like a holiday then a tour since we have a lot of late departures throughout the tour. It's weird, as some of the people said they aren't coming out tonight since they are tired?!?!?! they
WhistlerMe after arriving at Whilster, in front of one of the Gondala rides.
have only just started so it looks like it is going to be up to Nat and I to keep the partying up!! with the late starts I'm sure that we will be able to manage it without too much of a bother!!!
Our coach is a little dodgy, apparently it's too expensive to paint up a Contiki coach, so we've got a normal charter coach which they use for other things in the off season...
We are taking a Gondala ride up the mountain tomorrow then trekking to the top apparently - great!!! and having lunch up there and then we are off again at 1pm.
Most of the drives sound short and it would appear that we get a lot of free time - although there will be optional activies to fit in there.
Nat and I have signed up for the white water rafting, which is something I said I would never do as I'm a bit scared of water and stuff, and it's going to be bloody freezing as it is a glacier fed river! and I normally don't do wetsuits either!
We had lunch at the Amsterdam Pub and all
I can say is oh my god the food was good. The whole menu looked good and we are off to the spaghetti house for dinner tonight.
All the people here are thin, much to Nat and My horror!!! but I can see why with the food choices. Went down to the supermarket and they have the stuff that we eat just like home! it's so exciting - you know things are bad when that gets you excited!! real normal low fat options!!! yay!!!!
