So it's the day before I leave. All the procrastination has now come back to bite me in the butt. I haven't finished packing and all those little errands to tie up loose ends are taking much longer than anticipated. I woke up yesterday and the first thing going through my head was "must solve laptop issue!" The airports have now changed the policy of the not allowing electronic items on board but with all the drama around security I thought I should leave my laptop at home anyway. Months ago I could of signed up for a loan computer from the school but that deadline has now long past. I called the number on the pamphlet and found myself talking to an IT company in England. In a funny conversation with Matt Knight (great name!) ... read more

Day 100: Monday 14th. August 2006: Sunny: We were in Vancouver 6 years ago and missed out on one place due to bad weather so today we decided to go to Grouse Mountain - on the Seabus - a bus up the hill past the Capilano Suspension Bridge and then the Gondola up to Grouse Mountain resort - a wonderful spot for families and tourists with so much going on - hang gliding, ski lifts, live fun entertainment, movies, real live bears and more and absolutely stunning views. Back into North Vancouver and the markets for food - fabulous food. Day 101: Vancouver Island: Butchart Gardens - Victoria and the home of Emily Carr, Parliament House, Wax Museum and harbour. SEE separate blog. Day 102: Our last true holiday day out of Australia - so what ... read more

What to bring, what not to bring: that is the question. I woke up this morning thinking I should probably start packing. Unlike my past trips to Asia, where I was able to pack light and wait to purchase items at dirt cheap prices, I must strategically consider each item I pack on relative price and weight. The fact that I will be transferring at Heathrow is like an added bonus to my packing woes. Oh well, in five days time I will be fulfilling my life long dream of being a foreign student. ... read more

Drove North from Seattle and crossed the US/Canadian border on the 10th August. Stayed in Vancouver (British Columbia), which is a beautiful city. Apart from walking the city sightseeing, spent a day at the beach and hiked Grouse Mountain. In Vancouver we were lucky enough to enjoy a couple of nights luxurious appartment accomodation courtesy of Heather Scott, who we had met earlier in our travels (Mendoza, Argentina) and Gary had kept in contact with. We are indebted to Heather for the meals she made and the chance of free laundry, which believe me was badly needed! Revelstoke (British Columbia) was an overnight stop off on route to Banff National Park, and here we budgeted well with take away pizza and beer from the liquor store. Banff (Alberta) - Lake Louise, Moraine Lake. Hiked Sulphur Mountain. ... read more

We’re now checked into our honeymoon hotel in Juneau, and really we should have better things to do than log on and write the blog, but lots to tell, so we’ll try to keep up to date. Next entry will probably be after the deed is done, so if anyone out there knows of any good reason why we two should not be joined in matrimony, email now, or forever hold your peace! We left you in Whistler… Whistler is best known as a top winter sports destination, but it also makes a pretty decent summer sports destination too. They had the brilliant idea of running a couple of the chair lifts to get you to the top of the mountain so you can hike about the ridge, bike down or just hang out for the ... read more

Well 2 days in Vancouver was enought for us. Theres only so much you can do in a city when you have no money! We were meant to stay in Vancouver for 4 nights but after the first night we felt really ready to go home and made the decision to leave two nights early. Lucky we did after all the delays that happened at the airports the day we were meant to come home! What a nightmare that would have been! So we're home sweet home! I will write another blog when I get a spare 5 mins! I'll update you on the events since we've bin home and our final blog with an overview of all our travels - Ive still got so much to say! Day 31..... Well, we're back and its amazing how much can be crammed into a week, and how quickly it can fly by! After eating a lunch of Bison (not a whole one!), Martin picked up our Buick Allure (aka 'hire car' to those of us who have no idea what one of those is!) and we drove up the east coast of Vancouver Island. Our route took us 300kms North of Victoria, to Strathcona Provincial Park. The sun followed us all the way and that night we stayed at a beautiful lakeside lodge. The park itself is idyllic, peaceful & easily as photogenic as any we've already seen. We spent the next day walking alongside waterfalls, paddling in the lake and trekking through temperate rainforest. The rainforest was an amazing experience, even resembling scenes from ... read more

Vancouver, well for the past few days it has been really cloudy and drizzeld rain. I guess it reminds us of home a bit! The weather has not put us off though and we have been out and about visiting the sights. On the rare occassions when the Sun comes out its actually quite warm, but this hasn't happened too often. We can't complain about a few days rain in six weeks that would be wrong. We took a ferry across the water to Granville Island where they have a market with fresh food and stalls. We went for a bod abound one of vancouvers many parks and checked out views of the pacific and the harbour. They also have a microbrewery which brews up such things as maple cream ale and honey lager. (Friday) we ... read more

7 more weeks to go before I leave for my dream trip to Thailand and India. I thought I would do a little test blog as I lay here in bed at my new shared place in Port Coquitlam of all places. Moving back to Vancouver from Toronto was a hard move and took some real time to readjust to the same old same old. I began working 3 days after I got here and having stopped for a moment to really breath. Between working, my sister's wedding, family stuff, and prepping for my new business there really hasn't been much time or energy to really concentrate on prepping for my trip except for bits and pieces here and there. I have managed to make some tentative plans to stay at an Aussie dorm hostel for ... read more

Yah I know that this is not the day that we accually returned but for those who are following us from abroad then I figured that I should just type this last blog for this trip. I know that we both want to do more and we will just have to see when that happens. But for now back to the last bit. Our trip to the airport went with out a hitch, we already knew the way back so all we had to do is follow it back. I ended up fixing our black bag that we got in Florence enough so that it lasted all the way home. The check-in couldn't have been easier, we made use of the express check-in and did not stand in line at all. It was so nice! On ... read more
