At LAX3:45 a.m., thanks for the ride daddy, sorry we couldn't go to Denny's
So far so good. Although we got to the airport a wee bit early (3:45 a.m.) the check-in counters didn’t open until close to 5:30. Luckily we were at the front of the line. But it was okay, Robert passed the time with the word puzzles my mom gave him (Robert says thank you very much mom, it’s been his favorite book the whole time!) and I read magazines and danced around (much to the chagrin of other not-so-excited passengers who weren’t so lucky to be flying first class or going to Japan). The Maple Leaf Lounge was fabulous. All you can eat bagels, muffins, fruit drinks, coffee, and yes even hard liquor. No, we did not imbibe at such an early hour, but after 6 bagels (they were small! Think Lender’s frozen baby bagel size), 6 muffins, three juices and two coffees later we were ready to go to sleep.
Our flight from LAX to Vancouver went by quick, I think it was under 3 hours. We were served a delicious breakfast, starting with a fruit platter and a warm multi-grain roll with creamy butter and fruit preserves. Followed up by a choice of a steaming omelet or warm,

velvety pancakes with peaches and bangers (sausages!). We both opted for the pancakes. Ahh, the luxury of first class. As Robert put it, “pay no attention to the fluffy peach pancakes behind the curtain”. There was a very inquisitive man seated behind us in coach who made it a point to peek over our seats every time the flight attendant would come by to see what goodies we got.
I am currently in the Maple Leaf Lounge in Vancouver. Our first thoughts on Canada, lots of trees. Also, Canadians are very friendly and helpful, eh. (note to mom) There are lots of neat treats here so I’ll be sure to come back with plenty of Maple syrup and Canadian paraphernalia for you. Perhaps even some moose jerkey.
Robert has decided to sample the Canadian beer that they have here in the lounge, his thoughts on it are as follows: “amber in color, slightly bitter aftertaste, kind of like New Castle’s light weight brother”.
We’ve got a ~10 hour flight ahead of us, I probably wont be able to post this until we arrive in Japan since we’re too lazy to figure out how to get around having
to pay for wireless here in the airport.
