Sidenote – these are all my actual blogs that I had saved since I couldn't post them on the boat
Yeah, we’re in heaven. We’re not planning on coming back to Ottawa… just sayin’
Ok, ok. Back track a little. We bussed up to Vancouver from Seattle this morning – great scenery along the way. I really love the state of Washington – would love to come back some time and rent a car to drive around.
I had my “University of Ottawa” sweatpants on today which means once again I shall be known as “hey-Ottawa”… for some reason whenever I where them on this trip people feel the need to yell it out. This can be a positive, or a negative haha.
Anyway! We got on the boat relatively early which gave us some time to explore before getting stuck in the mandatory safety session. Yes, I understand that I should put a floatation device on if we’re sinking, thanks.
The boat is INCREDIBLE
– way larger than my NCL one was, and way fancier at that. After exploring a bit, we grabbed a quick lunch (mmm pasta salads and seared
Also, goodbye to tshirt weather!
fish). Also grabbed a desert. Or two. Or three. Chocolate cream pot was delicious! So was their passionfruit cake.
We then hunkered down on the deck to watch the scenery pass us by on the way out of Vancouver. The boat is so large we didn’t even feel it start to move. I took a crap-load of pictures as I always do (ah, the joys of sorting through them afterwards!) and continued to explore the deck space while Mom was content to stay in the one place to watch the water and take it all in.
It was just a tad chilly with the wind on the water… will be interesting to see how cold it is once we’re by the glaciers! Haha. To be fair though, I was just in a tshirt today...
We watched the singers/dancers by the pool after that – it was the “Welcome Aboard” bash, so we had fun watching (and laughing) as the cruise staff and a bunch of fun-lovin’ people got up to dance to such songs as “Single Ladies” “Achy Breaky Heart” “Jai-Ho” and “YMCA”. I almost died of laughter for the guys’ dance moves – especially when they
Very spiffy! Best pillows ever too, btw.
were re-inacting the music video for “Single Ladies” and just failing miserably at “Jai-Ho” haha. Loved it.
Supper was around 6:30pm – I had a great crab appetizer along with the most succulent Coq au Vin you could ever have. Mom had some beets (in honor of Deuxjim) and the beef plate – all very good from what I hear. We both got the raspberry cheesecake with mango sauce. Yeah. We’re going to gain 20lbs on this cruise lol.
What else? We looked at the stores on board – liquor is wonderful and cheap, so I have to decide what I want to bring back.
We got back to our room to find that it already been cleaned for us haha. We hadn’t really unpacked – we had just thrown our stuff all over before dinner… but we returned to find it all
neatly folded and stacked, with a little chocolate on our pillow.
Yep. Definitely loving this.
And Mom’s loving it too.
Tomorrow we’re cruising the Inside Passage, all along B.C.’s coast, heading up to the Alaskan frontier. Should be lovely.
