Day 3 in Vancouver!

Hello!

This is our blog, which will be the best way to find out what have been doing!!!

So far we have slowly gotten our bearings in the fancy suburb of Kitsilano, which we will call home for the next two months. We have expereinced freezing cold rain and slightly warmer sunny days. Right now it is 5 degrees and is going to drop to three tonight (because it was sunny today). Our first night Derek and Alison took us out to dinner at a kooky Sushi resturant which sold t-shirts that said "Miso Horny"!!

After sleeping in until midday yesterday we went shopping at Walmart and were awed by the sheer size of it.

Today we went to Service Canada aka Centrelink to get our Social Insurance Number so we can work & get money! We also lined up a job to start Monday! This job will last for 3 weeks and essentially means we are selling ourselves into slavery for $11 p/hour (before Tax) to do manual labour in a factory. But it will be perfect because it will pay for the snow trips that we are planning on going on!

We also had an epic lunch of pumpkin soup and cheese melts in a groovy bar which we washed down with a hot toddy! The bar was very retro with heaps of old board games and 8-track cassettes. Looking out the window we could see the steep snow-topped slopes of Mt Cypress.

The forecast is for rain, rain and more rain so we will need to rug up and force ourselves out of the house.
