Hi everyb!
Howz Holland? How has the outdoor climbing, sea kayaking, watching the seals, otters, bald eagles and deer been? Oh wait, Im confused. Thats not in Holland! Thats here! :P
Well, had my first Thanksgiving. Tried the pumpkin pie, cheese cake and vegetarian turkey. All good, I can tell ya. Although Thanksgiving here isn as big of a deal as it is in the States. I went to my professors place and had dinner with him, his wife and daughter and most of the other grad students. It was fun, cozy and easy going. Good times.
Well, what else? Went outdoor rock climbing with my buddies Gary and Gerald in Nanaimo. Picture a deep canyon with a river running through. The walls framing the canyon are all bolted and ready to be climbed. Awesome site. Great day, despite my nervous breakdown halfway a 5.9 lead-climb with almost nothing to hold on to. Ive also done a quick ocean paddle with Gerald. This guy has an awesome house right at the water front! Jacuzzi in the garden, huge flat screen tv, nice patio, great jeep and of course, kayaks, climbing gear, paddle boards and his own jet ski.
Am I leaving something out? Oh yeah, the fact that he gave me the security code, in case I ever wanna dive into the jacuzzi or watch tv on his home cinema set. I guess it pays being a real estate developer.
Another good thing is that Ill be running two RET pilots here coming November. Apparently, RET is unknown here and the people of BC have a thing for learning new stuff and take course to improve themselves. So, fertile grounds for setting up trainings here. I translated almost all of the material, now I gotta see whether I got it all correct and what the comments will be. Its pretty impossible to enter Canada by getting a job that already exist here, because youll be taking away work from the Canadians themselves... However, if you create your own work... well, its all good. So, if my two pilots are a success, I need to get my booty down to the chamber of commerce and get informed.
Downsides? Well, my back has been far from good. Luckily, I found a doctor here with an actual brain (can say that about the Dutch docs) who was so shocked
by my symptoms, he put me on the urgent list for a MRI. Hopefully, I can get one within three weeks and insurance will cover it. Hopefully.... But well see.
My study is running fine and I have had some interesting participants. (One saying: "well, you certainly have the most endearing accent.") I now have a little over 60 participants, so 180 more to go, hehe.
Oh well, Ill relax, Im on the west coast now.
Have a great day guys!
Hugs and kisses
