(Ness Lake Bible Camp)
We’ve finished our first week at this project, and, weather aside, it’s an awesome place to be. Glen & Joyce are staying here through the month of July, and I kind of envy them. When spring hits, it’s going to be gorgeous.
But on the other hand, we haven’t seen our grandkids (or kids!) for four months, and I’m missing their hugs~~Glen and Joyce just left theirs, so they’re fine for a couple more months!
We’re amazed at how much snow we’ve lost in the week we’ve been here, and that the mud is not even an issue! The ground has so much sand that it just sinks right in. Now that the snow is nearly gone, the green grass is peeking through, and there are buds on the trees…it’s coming…I believe spring is coming! The lake is still frozen over, and the prediction among the staff (using many different lines of reasoning) is that it will melt Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. The ice will melt and disappear within twelve hours, or so they say! There’s a lot of talk about it happening!
The spring staff started at the camp last
week, so there are about a dozen college age kids working around here. It’s kind of funny, because they’re everywhere, and they’re always talking and usually laughing! The staff was off on Monday and Tuesday, so they were in the dining hall playing games, and the words and laughing and screaming reminds me of sounds that came out of our basement during our girls’ high school years! We have our breaks with the staff, and also eat lunch with them, as well as Bible study on Wednesday nights, so we’re getting to know them, which is very nice.
Friday’s tour was to the Northern British Columbia University, which is only about seven years old. We toured their new sports facility (which is large enough to house an indoor artificial turf field) and then the library and student centers. We had lunch at an English style pub, called The Waddling Duck. I couldn’t get a clear picture of it, but it looked like the inside of a castle. Very fun. Then we made a visit to the art gallery and a quick stop to the hardware store, and to the sewing store, and we’re back at home.
HHHmmmmmm.....They're used for the three-legged race! A counselor goes in the middle leg, and a camper on either side! We had a hoot making these!
RV ParkBehind us is most of the camp~~down the hill. The A frame next to us is where we have morning devotions and social nights.
BARFFFFF.....There are two of these gyro cages here...they hold two people each, and are made to rotate in complete cirlces. Again I say BARF!
Not as easy as it looks! You have to hold the cables while trying to walk on the usually-swinging cable. Fun, but boy does it use some muscles!
WaterslideThis is looking down the slide, and there are two extensions that go into the lake. The steps hinge, so you don't have to remember to duck!

We're at the cabin this week and it is so nice.We went for a long ride in my Ranger and down to the lake. I'm treasuring every moment of it because I'm afraid once my surgery comes it will be a while before I can do anything. The weather has been beautiful and all our ice is gone. Carl caught one catfish and one big carp today, but no Walleye. Love you, Carl & Patti
