Day 14...

Greetings once again from the Canadian Rockies!

Since Banff, we have travelled up the Bow Valley Scenic Highway (as recommended to us by some locals we met in Calgary). Along the way we stopped at Johnston's Canyon, Moose Meadows (sadly still no moose sightings despite the name!), and finished our drive in Lake Louise.

We hiked to Lake Louise via the forest trail from our campsite and shared the view of the lake with seemingly hundreds of Japenese tourists, so moved swiftly up a huge hill to Mirror Lake and Lake Agnes for a bit more solitude. Less people but some Golden Mantled Ground Squirrels who insited they needed Martin's cheese & ham butty more than he did!!

We hit Moraine Lake early the next morning in the style of keen photographers and we were rewarded kindly with a magnificent vista and quiet serenity.

After our Lake tour, we crossed over to Yoho National Park where we did a highly recommended 20k hike from Takakkaw Falls up Whaleback Mountian. Apparently we climbed between 2000-3000ft to reach an elevation of 7500ft. We thought we were going to die in the heat! especially as we'd run out of water after 5k (it was hot!) But when we reached the summit, we found ice cold glacier water & even large patches of snow to cool us down!

Without the use of our legs for the evening, we were forced into treating ourselves to a monster-sized bag of marshmallows to toast & celebrate over a campfire that night!

When the sun arose the next morning, our legs had only regained enough energy to transport us from our RV & onto towels to spend the day sunbathing! The theme continued into the next day although our still-healthy arms were put to good use with a little canoeing on Emerald Lake.

Onwards to Jasper.....
