Drove for approx 5- 6 hrs from Kelowna to Lake Louise. Stopped by some unknown lakes on the way for toilet break and photo op. So strange, the lake looked like it's semi frozen. The edge is still water while the rest of the lake has a layer of frost on it. Continued on and finally arrived at Lake Louise Town at abt 5pm. Our Ms Never-Get-Lost brought us to the wrong HI Lake Louise, which we panicked a bit. The carpark lots looked packed with a huge layer of snow.. how do we drive in ah? Luckily after asking ard,we finally found the right place. Nice hostel. The gals are pretty impressed by their first hostel experience, esp when we were fortunate to be able to get a 4 bed room to ourselves. Yeh!

Drove out to explore Lake Louise before it turns dark. The pathway leading up to the lake is paved with snow.. ow..slippery. When we arrived at the lake, to our astonishment, the lake is FROZEN! It's sooo different from those touristy pix we see on the website and brochures. Everything was white, the lake, the mountains and the clouds... Tho a bit disappointed at first for not seeing the typical lake scene, but after while, i appreciated the whiteness of the frozen lake. It's a rare chance to see a frozen lake, that turned into a skating rink. Snowfall must be very heavy cos the pavement was packed so high with snow that the benches were almost all buried in the snow. Ash and I decided to walk down the lake... As we explore further, I've got this cartoonish image in my mind where I get too heavy for the ice that it will split apart and I'll fall into the frozen water. Well, since Mich's toes were too cold to allow her to walk down with us... we'll have her as the back-up saviour then :p

Unknowingly, we spent almost 3 hrs exploring the lake. It's almost 8pm when we left the lake. Headed back to hostel to cook our cup noodles for dinner. An a little treat, we opened a bottle of wine to pair our Nissin cup noodles. What an indulgence rite? Tried to be atas, but the most malu thing was Ash and I had to struggled so hard with our cockscrew and wine bottle. We tried so long that 2 young boys had to come over to offer help. So embarassing bleh...
