bit of a roadtrip

The day after the traumatic Delvis experience we moved on to stay with some more lovely people. Mary and Jim Courtney and their kids Johnathan and Alison who so kindly put Jase up when we were here 2 years ago. They live about 45 min out of the city of Calgary in a nice place called Redwood Meadows where there are no fences and deer roam freely.

After an eventful day of going to pick Ali up from the airport and being told she missed her flight and driving all the way back home and then being called to say she was waiting to be picked up and had been on the right flight so driving back and other such adventures, we had a bit of a late night, our first night here. The next morning however we had a good sleep-in again and after a bit of a chat with Mary about things to see in the area we packed a lunch and headed to the mountains!

We drove through a small town called Canmore with some gorgeous little shops (AND a Dairy Queen - the important stuff) and right into the Kananaskis mountains. It was a long drive, but well worth it for the photos we got! We stopped for lunch at the Spray Lakes and got eaten alive by various bugs. Then we headed back through the gorgeous mountain range to an Alberta Beef steak dinner and an early night!

But at such high elevation, this lake is freezing cold!!
