A bit cloudy and dull this morning, but we were up early and went for a brisk half hour walk around Canmore.
We set off accross the Bow Valley trail (sounds like a hikers path, it's not, it's just the main road through Canmore) we crossed the railway and headed for policemans creek. This is a scenic path that runs along side the stream that runs through the town.
We passed the "Big Head" just off main street - The striking sculpture - named Big Head, a translation of the Gaelic word Ceanmore, a variation of the town's name. This publicly funded sculpture was designed by an Albertan artist but strangely constructed in China and shipped all the way here at a total cost of $40,000. You'll notice that the sculpture is donning a Scottish headress - this was because of the highland games a couple of days ago.
On our walk we also spotted lots of rabbits, nothing special there, but here in Canmore the town is full of rabbits. They are not the regular rabbits you're thinking of these are domesticated "rabbits gone wild"

their domestic rabbits into South Canmore and rather than becoming coyote snacks they survived, thrived and today are the most famous residents that Canmore has. Not very popular with the towns gardeners but the town's animal control byelaw prohibits the trapping of the Canmore rabbits by either residents or the town.
