The cruise left from Boston and was supposed to be 6 days with 4 days on the ship and 2 and a half days docked in Bermuda. Thanks to Tropical Storm Colin, our arrival in Bermuda was delayed by a day but the ship took a wider route to get to the island and completely bypassed the storm so we had nothing but blue skies. On the return from Bermuda to Boston the weather wasn’t so accommodating with rain, wind and cloudy skies, but the sun did manage to peek out a few times. The days at sea were spent relaxing on the deck, reading, people watching and drinking. Once the boat docked at the Naval Dockyard in Bermuda we disembarked and took a ferry to St. George. We explored St. George, went inside the Crystal ... read more

I wanted to post a final entry on the Bermuda trip. Pre planning Costs: Flights: $20 Used United Airlines frequent flyer miles Hotel: $75 at Newark airport (typical rooms are $250) Cruise: $500, amount saved by trading a Timeshare week Trip: Took a voluntary bump from Colorado Springs and got $800 in free United Airlines Tickets. Had perfect weather the entire cruise. It was about 72 degrees and sunny. Had a motor scooter accident and got a sprained ankle. The sprain force me to relax for the remainder of the cruise which pleased Jan immensely. Because of my bad knee, I had packed a cane and lots of Percocet, which made the remainder of the trip much better. Post Trip: Used the $800 in United Airlines Coupons to buy ticket so Spokane for Christmas. Total cost ... read more

This is my second and final blog entry, because the first access to internet on the ship cost me almost $20. I don't need internet access that much. When you read this, we are home The second day, Monday, of the cruise was at sea and a quiet day. The third day, Tuesday, the ship anchored off shore near the town of St. George. We had to take a 30 minute ferry ride to the island. We decide to rent motor scooters for the day and tour the island. Bermuda is a string of many islands with bridges connecting the inhabited islands. We were almost to the other end, when it happened!! I came around a corner and there was a car stopped in the road. I don't remember exactly what happened but the next moment, ... read more

We are now on the ship heading to Bermuda. On Saturday we flew to Newark. We had a 11:30am flight from Colorado Springs to Chicago. The flight, which was full, loaded on time but then the fun began. The captain, who should be fired, announced that the plane was overweight and 8 people would have to get off before we could take off. In Colorado it is common for flights to be weight restricted, because of the heat and altitude. It was supposed to be 90 that day. The weight problem should have been calculated before we loaded the plane. The poor gate attendant was now responsible to get 8 people off in a very short time. I got off with my papers along with a few others. I needed to get to Newark, a major ... read more

In May 2010, we have booked a 7 day cruise to Bermuda on Holland America Lines. The cruise leaves out of Manhattan on May 29th and returns on June 6th. We will fly to Newark on Saturday May 28. We were lucky enough to use frequent Flyer miles on United to get from Colorado Springs to Newark. We picked Newark, because of the hotel. The hotels in Manhattan and near JFK were $250 to $400. I got a Holiday Inn near the Newark airport for $75. It is the same distance from Newark to the ship as from JFK. We were in Bermuda in 1966 for a delayed honeymoon... read more

I just returned from a cruise aboard the NCL Dawn and I had a Group on the NCL Majesty. both cruises were wonderful. The majesty hit hard seas on her way down and some of our guests were in bed riding out the seas but after a day it became calmer and the fun began. first of all NCL Freestyle was something I thought I would hate as I am use to traditional cruising. but all the dining options were great. the food good and service absolutely wonderful, exceeding expectations. The only negative out of the whole trip was our cabin service which was sub par but the steward and stewardess were very friendly but not very clean but that was our only complaint. Our group on the majesty was with JR cat Country radio with ... read more

As you can see from the pictures, we had a very full couple of days in New York City! The first few pics, though, were still from Cape Cod....the resort had a little putt-putt golf course, and Tom finally got me out there on our last day. The Wampoanag tribe, the Pilgrims' Indians, still have a strong presence in Mashpee, with a cemetery, meeting house and museum, and Tom was especially interested in that. Back to New York....driving in we were feeling quite smug...we'd crossed the bridge, got off FDR drive at the right place, and were one street away from the hotel, but then a police officer made us turn left when we wanted to go straight. The reason? The high-level meeting that was taking place at the UN, with all the attendant security ... read more

Hi everyone, I am back after I posted those pictures about 2 years ago. Since the article, I spent almost 3 years in Bermy and simply loved it. The life in Bermuda was great and I made losts of friends, some becoming my best friend, some becoming lovers. Bermuda will always be in my heart for many many reasons. During those years, I discovered the real Bermuda stopping at the round about to say HI to my friend Johnny Barnes almost every time I went to town! A smile and you'll have a smile back for sure. Sometimes, they even beat you...ha ha ha. What a great experience it was. Here are my pictures, enjoy them and write to me! ... read more

I have just finished a fabulous week volunteering as a liaison Officer for the tall ships. I was assigned to the ship Mircea - a Romanain Navy training vessel. 184 men and 6 women. They were all delightful from the captain down. They we interested enthusiastic, respectful, and sense of humour. My team of 6 were to assist the ship in whatever they needed to prepare for the next leg of the race to Charleston. We showed them around Bermuda. There were lots of social events planned which they took part in. On Thursday my team and I were able to travel down from Dockyard to Hamilton where there was a raft up of Tall ships from #7 shed to the ferry Terminal and RBYC. It was very sad to say good bye to my ship ... read more
