AmjadThe Minister of Justice
Number 1.
At the Workshop Farewell Party
Amjad: "Stacey, I have to talk to you about something really important."
"uh. ok. what's up?"
"WELL. Hypothetically, if I was the Minister of Health, and I proposed to you right now, what would you say?"
Naturally, I thought he was joking. Apparently, as the rest of my friends assured me, he was not.
"So what do you say?"
"oh, naturally, of Course I'll marry the Minister of Health" (dripping with the proper amount of sarcasm)
"No, but what if III was the Minister?"
And thus it continued, All Night.
And the frenzy it caused among the rest of my male friends!
For example, Sherif looked frantic and Akram kept trying, desperately and annoyingly, to get my attention. To keep themselves in my line of view, as if to remind me to weigh my options.
"Soooo What do you say?!"
"uhh... come on.... no!"
Sweet jebus. How romantic. My first proposal for marriage.
Number 2:
At a Jericho Date Factory
The I-forget-his-name Friend of Our Tourguide: "Did you know that Arab men buy lots of jewelry for their wives? 10,000 Euros worth! 20,000!"
"uh... that's
Sherif...Harmless. but it doesn't make it any less uncomfortable
... nice"
"I was noticing you weren't wearing much jewelry...."
Thus ensued a oh-so-very-cute exchange where Enric claimed to be my fiancee, and I was bartered for. Settling on the oh-so-flattering amount of 15 camels. The other men eyed me with interest when they found out that I was from Canada. They have, apparently, always wanted to go to Canada. I now know how a painting would feel, could it feel, at an auction.
SOLD!

I'm sorry; I'm confused. I walk around in baggy man pants, that according to my friend's mother are most unflattering (said to a friend: "you look at her, and you think: 'she's HUUUUGE!' but it's just the clothes!" me: "uh... thanks?"). I'm constantly disgustingly sweaty. I rarely wear makeup.
I am very confused.
