Arrhhhh!!! Dubai are we glad to see you, after ten long days at sea, we are finally here. Two days out from Perth the weather finally become lovely and warm around 29-30 every day but quite windy some days. Always tried to do our 10,000 around the deck each day – though quite difficult sometimes with the strong wind. John managed to play table tennis nearly every day and we joined a few people we knew every second day or so for happy hour in the Legends Bar, which was always a bit of fun, a lovely couple from New Plymouth in New Zealand and a character from Caulfield who is a retired real estate agent, she is so much fun…not Jewish funnily enough! Always someone to have a laugh with and the Aussies flock to ... read more

My bag was almost torn apart as a giant and muscle bound Emirate border guard dug his way through. It felt like he was searching for any reason to give me problems. The American guy next to me was also selected for the search. I had made my way through Oman via bus, and everyone else was going to have to wait for them to finish and let us through. So I hoped. The only thing I figured might give me problems might be the Kamasutra deck of cards I had somewhere in there. Somehow I felt they wouldn't be appreciated so much. But him and his compadre that he called over seemed to be more interested in the plethora of pharmaceutical drugs I was carrying with me. Up until now, I never realized I had ... read more

Day 26 Saturday 13th February 2016 Moving back to Dubai today, which is only 2 hours away so there was no need to rush. We are both a bit sad to be leaving Abu Dhabi as we have both enjoyed our time here. Didn’t bother with all the big ticket tourist sites like Ferrari World whilst here, but have spent a lot of time wandering the streets taking in the vibe. Had our usual Croissants for breakfast in our room before packing and checking out at 11. Got a taxi down to the bus station and was on the bus within ten minutes, and underway within another ten. As we arrived at the bus station in Dubai we passed the old Cunard Liner QE2 which has been parked at Dubai since 2008, and is ... read more

Seven years ago, we traveled to Dubai at Easter for 10 days for the first time - a long anticipated trip that saw us fall in love with the diverse, modern City. In the years since then we have visited at least once, but usually twice a year, always as a family of 5. Even transiting through Dubai to fly further afield makes my heart jump and I feel a strong pull towards it, an undescribable feeling of longing. We have stayed in a few hotels across the City. The children's favourite would be Atlantis The Palm, an amazing playground where kids and adults of all ages are treated to everything from swimming with Dolphins or Rays to a world class Waterpark on site, a Mall and wonderful restaurants. As they mature they enjoyed our stay ... read more

Day 1 - Tuesday 19th January 2016 Off finally on a new adventure nearly 3 years since our return from South America. Our plans for our new trip took lots of twists and turns before we finally settled on one that we both felt happy with and to add a bit of sparkle to it we opted for some time in perhaps the most opulent over the top city in the world – Dubai. Our trip started like all others before and perhaps like nearly everyone’s trip, an early morning rise and a taxi to the airport. All went well till we went to check our luggage in and get our boarding pass. All of a sudden a one way ticket to the UAE was a problem, the guy checking us in questioned us ... read more

Hello again! It is so long since I posted that I had trouble remembering the password to get in! We decided to take a new route to Oz this time. In the past we have always headed west, usually via Vancouver, L.A. or San Francisco. Emirates Air offered a number of attractive perks including free accommodation, transfers and meals on the return leg because the layover will be more than 12 hours between flights! We had already decided to break up the outbound trip by spending 2 nights in Dubai which is roughly 1/2 way to Sydney. Here are a few pics and observations from our brief visit. Remember to click on the first pic for better viewing... read more

Nuestro proceso ... read more

December 11 2015 Sailin into the gulf of Oman to the straight of Hermuz passing several tankers of oil. Oman produces more than 5% of the worlds oil.
