Hatta - Dubai

Day 42
We left Hatta this morning relatively early, so that we could return the rental car to ‘Thrifty’ by 11.30am. The drop off point was Chelle’s house at the Ranches. It was a little beyond our capabilities trying to find the Thrifty depot in Dubai.

We couldn’t help but notice the closer we got to Dubai the murkier the sky became with all the dust, smog etc. In the mountains at Hatta the air was crystal clear and so lovely and fresh.
What an enjoyable time we had in Hatta and so very inexpensive for what we got.

Our trip back to Dubai was very good the roads were excellent. In New Zealand we can only dream about the roads they have up here.
We had to laugh at one point when a Ute sped by with a camel in the tray at the back!!!! The camel looked quite relaxed and happy.
We were able to get a photograph because the Ute had to stop at one of the dreaded speed bumps.
I guess the camel would not have been very happy going across the speed bumps at speed.

We drove through a town called Al Madam, I laughed at that.
Yesterday we drove by a Kindergarten but it was called a Kinder Garden!!!!!!!

We noticed on the way back that there were speed camera’s about every kilometre along the road. Mind you the speed limit is 120kms.
We just quietly tootled along with the trucks, although the trucks were even passing us.

Chelle forwarded an email from a friend of hers who lives in Syria. He had sent her pictures of Hamah that were taken a few days after we had left.
Hamah was covered in snow!!!!!
We have been so lucky with our weather. The weather gods have really smiled on us as we have been travelling in winter time.
In a few hours time Chelle will be dropping us at the Airport and we will be on our way home.
We are looking forward to coming home. We have had enough of living out of suitcases. Everything we seem to want is at the bottom of the suitcase.

We thought that we would be coming home with a little less luggage, but no we have an extra bag full of stuff, much to Graham’s horror!!!
In Hatta Graham weighed himself, and then weighed himself with each bag, he was not happy with the total result!!!
I have to say it doesn’t really concern me very much. I am quite relaxed about it all.
