Day 41
This is our last day in Hatta. We have had a lovely decadent time here in Hatta. We really needed the rest, as the trip has been extremely busy.
Last night a lovely man arrived at our door with our nightly chocolates plus a small posy of flowers for me. How nice that was.
We awoke very late for us this morning and didn’t arrive to breakfast until after 9am. We were seated beside a Dutch couple and we started to chat. We left breakfast at 10.30am, so the day was almost over.
Like us the Dutch couple were visiting their daughter in Dubai. They had decided to come to Hatta and then travel onto Oman for a wee holiday.
They were very interested in our time in Syria. We gave them all the information we had about Syria. They would like to travel there one day.
We then decided to see what there was in Hatta. We went around one hill twice, before we realised that we were looking at the same Fort on the hill.
We stumbled onto a road that led us up to a huge dam. This dam has been built to stop
the water pouring into Hatta and destroying it, when it rains in the mountains. It is a flood protection dam.
We went for a lovely walk down to the bottom of the dam as the water level is very low. They are waiting for their winter rains.
It seems funny to say winter rains when we are dressed in our summer clothes. The weather has been just lovely since we left Syria.
There is not a lot to see in Hatta. We had seen the Heritage Village when we were here last year.
We arrived back at the hotel at 2pm and went to lunch. We didn’t want a large lunch as we realised how late it was. I tried to explain that I wanted a turkey and cheese sandwich, some peaches and yoghourt.
Well I ended up with a sandwich that looked as though it had the whole turkey in it plus a whole block of cheese plus hot chips and salad!!!!
I also ended up with a plate of peaches as well as a plate of yoghourt.
Needless to say Graham had to eat some of it as there was far to much for me.
As I
write this Graham has fallen asleep after telling me that he feels like a beached whale!!!!!
We leave here tomorrow morning for Dubai. Our rental car is to be picked up at Chelle’s house, and Chelle is going to take us to the airport for our evening flight to Singapore and then onto Phuket. Tomorrow will be a very long day and night I would imagine.
We are now turning our attention to coming home.
We have had to borrow one of Chelle’s bags as we can’t fit everything into the bags we left home with!!!!!
