What a journey, we defintely dont want it to end, but before we get all solemn and depressed, what have we been up to since the last Dubai update? We have been shopping to Karama (a town full of shops with so much fake stuff its incredible) but we love it, and its the home of yummy shawarmas, a must have for anyone travelling to Dubai, just a posh chicken kebab with tahini , mmmm mmmm! It rained all day when we were there but didnt matter, we just shopped till we literally dropped. The rest of the time we have chilled and eaten lots, and more shopping at the Mall of the Emirates. Steve is impressed with me as I have only bought for others this holiday, whereas he has bought for himself and others non stop! We have been to our fav restaurant, Chilis , where we had the famous molten chocolate cake, is the best pudding in the world, Papa you would love it. And yes we visited Wagamamas, see Steve sporting the bib.....the only wagamamas we have come across that does bibs! Wow, they do look sexy!
Of course we made a trip to the best
place ever...the gold souks! Amanda got her ring polished and we are making another trip tonight (our last night) to go and see a ring Amanda has had her eye on......a real diamond one at a very good price. Hopefully a xmas pressie from steve! We will see! And no not an engagement for all those with their minds wondering. Steve has also made another trip to Ski Dubai, where he got a two hour pass and skied to his hearts content. It really is fantastic. See the great pic of the famous Sheikh Zayed Road.
So today...... where was that special place we were going to.....any guesses? Lisa I know you already know! Yes Folks...the SEVEN STAR BURJ AL ARAB HOTEL! We booked for the A 'La Carte lunch, preparing ourselves for £100 per head we were pleasantly suprised (as it cost just over that for the two of us...bargain) as guess what?? We managed to get a free drink in the Burj al arab! Believe it or not, we sat down at the table and the table cloth had two soup stains on it! Obviously Amanda complained, we wouldnt stand for it at home in a posh
restaurant so why here!. They thought it was the end of the world and couldnt apologise enough, they were actually horrified. So thats how we got our free drink. Its so exclusive that you cannot take pics there, only in the lobby! But yes we took loads and loads, of the inside, restuarant, the amazing views and even the toilets. We were even cheeky enough to get a really nice waiter to take a pic. When you walk in, you can only describe it as wonderful. Escalators either side of you with fish tanks with thousands of tropical fish that go all the way up the escalator with you. The colour of the decor is what really gets you, so many colours, such intense bright colours, that sort of spiral up ahead of you (with the doors to the suites on each floor, each a different colour). Only the pictures can show what we are trying to explain.
It wasnt what Amanda was expecting as it was her first time inside the Burj, she was suprised how colourful it was. For £1000 per night you can tell that the clientele were wealthy especially when a starter itself is £40,
but hey ho you only live once! And it was a great end to a wonderful three months, even if we could only afford to toast to our travels with Evian water! Steve ordered the most amazing choc pudding, had about ten deserts in one, the chocolate even had the Burj Al Arab printed on it which you could eat.Enjoy the pictures everyone. Feast your eyes as its our last one.
Ooh yeah we forgot to take a photo of the rain, see the water logged view from the front of the house!
Tomorrow we will be back in England and back to the cold and wet days and foremost REALITY!
