Day 2 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi and England are at least putting up more of a fight, however, disappointingly a couple of late wickets fell near to the end of the day - hopefully we will make it to day 4 this time, we met an ex England cricket captain in the lift this morning before play started and he predicted he would be at the golf on Sunday as the second test will be over!! I understand Rory McIlroy is leading after day 1 but have not heard this officially. Today a couple of golfers, not big names, came to watch the final couple of hours at the cricket, when they had finished their rounds, they sat near the Barmy Army and were immediately recruited!!!!
The cricket stadium is again in the middle of nowhere, but an impressive structure none the less. We opted for a corporate box option, without catering, but although nice, the seats were not up to the armchair standard of the ones in Dubai, we are also completely in the shade and yesterday was really cold, a strong freezing wind, it felt like watching cricket in England in April, lots of layers required. We had to solve some sort of riddle to get out of our area into the stand occupied by the Barmy army which was in the sun and at least 10 degrees warmer. Mr CF started another painting masterpiece as the view was better now we were facing the main stand. Everyone reading this will be pleased to know that pies are still on the menu with the addition of panini's but no muffins or ice cream, hey ho, we can't have everything!!!
