On behalf of myself I’d like to welcome you once again to the source of your insanity. Prelude These past two days have brought me very close to death… in more ways than one. Firstly, I kept seeing a blinding white light… but we were in the desert and I could hear voices so I reasoned that I wasn’t dead yet. The reason was that we walked for hours and hours around various sites on very little sleep and after a long bus ride. Chapter 1 - Palmyra On Friday morning I was aroused by the alarm I had set for 6:30 and spent the next two and a half hours waiting for Masumi to get out of bed. Okay, you're gonna be seeıgn a lot of typos ın thıs one... that,s because Turkısh keyboards suck ass. There,s an ¨ı¨ın the i posıtıon (between U and O) but ıt,s some form of unıquely Turkısh ı, unsuıtable to us fussy Westerners. Instead there,s a second i key to the rıght of what would be a semı-colon,ö but ıs ın fact a ş. Except capıtal I ıs stıll back on the Turkısh I. Full stop ıs one key to the rıght, comma ıs rıght of the 2nd i (next to the shrunken Enter key), apostrophe ıs Alt+2, @ ıs Alt+q, etc etc. Just know that for all the errors youire seeıng here, Iim stıll hıttıng backspace about 6-8 tımes a sentence to clean up worse errors! Okay, Syrıa. Interestıng place. The fırst thıng we notıced ıs ... read more

Yesterday was a very, very long but very, very fun day. My morning started at 5:30am when I got up and packed for the long day ahead. I headed out the door at about 6am and met some friends and we took a cab to the university. The bus pulled out of the parking lot at about 7am and headed for Sedeyna. Sedeyna is a town outside of Damascus with a beautiufl church and I forget the story but there was a miracle that happened there. I believe. After that we headed for nearby Ma'alula. Ma'alula is one of the only remaining towns that still speaks the language of Jesus Christ, Aramaic. It was very pretty and I took some nice pictures. The language was interesting to hear and I got an audio recording of a ... read more
