After a mild panic mid air I realised that the plane was going to Bahrain as well as Kuwait! Anyhow after a massive amount of travelling Dubai, Bahrain, Kuwait I arrived in Syria.
The initial flight was shared with a mass of Indians going to Tehran quite what they were going to do there I do not know but I had a mild panic at the airport when I found around 100 people all clamouring for there new boarding pass anyhow I queue barged by showing my ticket and going thats the flight I need as final boarding calls were being issued!
Sat in row 2 with a syrian lady she had brought a picnic for the flight and insisted I had half - I think thats what she was doing as she didnt speak English! So I had apples and minstrels thrown at me which I gladly accepted and then proceeded to sleep the rest of the flight away!
I then got through to passport control where upon a very grumpy inspector was determined to find evidence of entry to Israel! He finally conceded defeat and returned my passport with a glower!
I got to a bus where I proceeded to attempt to buy a ticket I must have looked pretty feeble as two young very dishy men took pity on me and before I know it I was on the bus attempting to engage them in conversation unfortunately they didnt speak English but they saw me off into a taxi whereupon I proceeded to be totally ripped of!! I now know that taxis in Syria are very very cheap think mere pennies rather than pounds!
I met up with Mrs. Fattal without getting to lost and went into her aparment I had a couple of biscuits and some water before going to 'orientate' myself with the city! I proceeded to get totally lost but I did find the hotel where I wanted to stay tonight - they were fully booked so I went down the road to Al Haramein and was fitted in there - though I may be on the roof tomorrow!
I finally found myself back to the apartment where I sat and did a few things before I was taken out for supper! It was a yummy meal but very much like what you get in Dubai anyhow we returned home and I slept like a log!!
Today has been very lazy walking around the hotel area having lunch - a rather mank hoummus - it was mixed with Labneh and had whole chickpeas in it and was served warm!
Before going back sitting on the roof reading and now I have ventured out again - the Jesus sandals are less sore now though I am still limping a bit not sure what I will do tonight but there are quite a few young around - I am sharing my room with a girl from Germany and I met some French men at lunch!
Anyhow I hope that you are all well, that biggles's leg is all better and if you want postcards send me your addresses! M and D - give the link to A and O as well as Gilly so Papa can read what I am up to!
Anyhow being stingy I am about to go over my hour and I dont want to spend more than 80 pennies!!
