Day 6.
(15-16/04/09)
(The Brain Eater)
Well, There’s not much to write about, I’m not really seeing/exploring much these days, my grandfather is still in the hospital and I’m pretty by his side all day long, all though I’ve had a few hours outside the hospital, just to change surroundings a bit, yesterday I went to Palace Café, which is one of the more exquisite Cafés in Lebanon, I was there last time I went to Lebanon, and it was really something that helped my mood, since sitting in the hospital wouldn’t exactly be a huge part of “your dream trip” -to Lebanon, but of course there’s nothing else that I want but to be by his side at this time.
Anyway enough of the sad talk, I’m still having a blast down here, being here with my family is a pleasure, the idea of sharing their everyday life is exciting, It’s very different, and an entirely new world to me, some of it does give me a headache, things like the constant “No, no, no, no”-discussions over things that are very simple like do you want to have some strawberries Yes or No, down here they can use 3-5 minutes to discuss whether they want it or not, the one who bids keeps say “take, take, please take, with gods will take” and so on, quite often it just ends up in a “Fine, I’ll take some” if he/she in fact actually wanted some or silence followed by questioning of the next person, and of course it’s only ever because they don’t want to be rude, but coming from a culture where Yes, actually means yes, and vice versa, it easily bring a pretty wound up headache about.
Oh, right a thing I forgot, I went to get some sandwich today with my uncle and my dad, and I said to my dad, just get me whatever, because they were talking about chicken all the way there, now as I took my first bite, I quite quickly analyzed that this most certainly wasn’t chicken, not that it didn’t taste good, I was just sure it wasn’t chicken, anyway ´I kept eating it like the unknown puppy I was, because of course my dad had sat me up with a sandwich of sheep brain, I am still amazed I didn’t puke all over the place, but I guess the fact that it actually didn’t taste all that bad kind of made up for it, but I’m surely not going with the “whatever..” again.
On aside note, I just got a full haircut as well as shave, for what’s equal to 40DKK/5euro, I wasn’t really comfortable with only paying him 10000 LBP, I mean he did anything, when he shaved me, he first, hmm.. Kind of draw how I wanted my shave, in the cream, and then I got a shave in the old school way, with a real barber’s knife, was kind of nostalgic, but the result was really good. While I was writing this I had just been in eating breakfast at a place a few hundred meters away from our home, now we were 4 ppl and we stuffed ourselves, for 9000 LBP, and this was with just about anything you’d imagine there should be to the plate of this kind of breakfast.’
“Anyway, I reckon that will do it for now, I hope everyone back at home are having a good time, and that at least some of you enjoys my blogging, I’ve probably found my way about getting a personal teacher.”
All the best regards.
From the other side of the world.
Yours sincerely
Mike.
