I don't think they could have packed any more into this sall shop if they tried. This is actually a stall in the old market. I took this picture in the winter which is why you can see the goodies. At the moment it gets so busy you can hardly breath let alone shop :D
Hello all, and thank you for coming back yet again.

I haven't updated my diary for nearly a month now as it has been incredibly hot and I have been hiding away inside the house where the air conditioning keeps me from cooking internally and turning into a blistered lobster. They record the temperature in the shade and today it was 47c... so I guess in the sun that would be hitting around 52c and it feels it too. The hot air dries your throat, blisters your lips and dries your eye balls so they feel like ping pong balls that have been rolled in sticky sand bobbing up and down in your sockets :S takes a little getting used to but I think we are getting there. So life here has been a little subdued for a few weeks. The temperature this week has dropped ever so slightly and we are getting excited about the weekend. Our wekend (for those of you who forgot) is on a Thursday and Friday so this evening we will venture out. I think we will go to see the musical fountains near Kuwait city. They are meant to be the third largest musical

As you can see the roads in Kuwait are much more like American roads. Not only because of the huge wide expance of the roads's but 90% or cars driven in Kuwait are huge 4x4 American cars, jeeps and hummers. Its unusual to see a small car like the one infront of us. I think this has alot to do with the speed and hap hazard way in which poeple drive over here. Compared to the UK its terrifying and I'm getting a driver. Not brave enough to take these roads on. Although saying that many expats do so don't let me put you off :D notice all the palm trees lining the road. doesn't it look amazing.
fountains in the world.. Im not sure if thats true but there is a nice play area for children there that is laid out on fluffy green grass. And they serve the most wonderful cappucino's and hubbly bubbly pipes are in abundance. My two little ones enjoy the food and its cheap and chearful (as is most food in kuwait) (the cheese burger is delicious). On a Friday evening around 9pm a live band kicks in and plays the most wonderful Arabic music that you just can't help wiggling to. The beat of Arabic music is extremely contagious. The rythm seems to bleed into your veins and it gives you the most wonderful feel good factor. Hand clapping and the occasional dance from brave young children follow the wonderful beat and soulful voice of the live performer. Excellent. And its unbelievably cheap for a night out. We usually go around 7 o'clock and let the kids run riot on the play area for a couple of hours. We use this time to have their dinner and refreshments and smoke some shisha :) then we move over to the other side of the fountains nearer the band and drink cappucino ideally

This picture was taken in the Kuwait scientific centre which has th largest aquarium in the middle east. The sharks were amazing. This is a live cuttle fish. I found this particularly interesting as we used to collect the white hard cuttle fish off the shores of selsey in Sussex for our budgie Sherbert. I had never seen a live one till today. Stunning creatures and very graceful. Sientific centre is certainly worth a visit, it has 3D cinema, normal cinemas, restaurants, educational play areas and scientific experiments children can try, a dhow harbour where you can see the most amazing boats and lots of walking along the beautiful shore line.. Lovely
as the kids nod off and give us some peace and relaxation. A real nice family night out. Very child friendly even through tot he late hours of the night.

As soon as the weather cools a little more we will be heading off to AQua park. This is one of the biggest water parks in the middle east and looks fantastic. i have not been yet so can't publish a picture but have a look at their web site www.aquaparkkuwait.com it has some great pictures showing you all the amazing rides. It looks liek a real fun day out for all the family. If your a little boy shy or a muslim you can go on ladies only day. Make a note also of the entry costs. It seems that a family day out in kuwait to somewhere like aquapark will cost you very little in comparison to a day out in the UK. I remember spending at least 50 pounds sterling if not more on just taking my little ones to London Zoo, and lets not start going into how we actually got there.. what a nightmare... All in all Kuwait has turned out to be the most family friendly place we have EVER been to. Every where you go there are play things for children, most large shops have those ball pool type climbing facilities for children to play on and such places like IKEA have maids in them so you can leave your child there and go roaming in peace. We also have a wonderfulplace called green island which im almost wetting myself to go and see.. thats promised to be a really nice family dayout as well..

so I apologise for my entry being slightly (very) boring this tie round but please keep checking abck as I promise they will be alot of fun in the very near future. Filled with some amazing pictures and fun stories of our emigration progress in Kuwait. As for somew sensible stuff and updates, we are still waiting for our civil ID's and visa stuff to be sorted but its all in progress so we are told... Laila will also strat school in SEptember and she is extremely excited. It will also be a great opertunity to make new friends for both of us.

That brings me to another note. Please feel free to send me a private message if your coming to Kuwait or are already here and enjoyingyour time in Kuwait. Doesn't matter where your from or why your here drop me a line. I have made some fantastic friends through this blog. People who are emigrating to Kuwait and have sent me messages (becky) and people just after some plain old information about wonderful Kuwait. Drop me a line, im always happy to hear form new people... On that note i will sign off for another day and willupdate with some fun stuff very soon...

Love to all and Salam for now xxx Lucy xxx
