If we were to use the GPS route to get to the Dead Sea we'd have reached long past sunset.
So how did we get there? :) By road of course. No alien intervention
We arrived just before sundown. The strip was quite empty. I guess most of the tourists had long gone. The stretch was totally ours!
It was a major thrill to float on the Dead sea. It's just remarkable how such a place could exist in nature!
I lay on my back with my hands beneath my head as i floated and watched the sunset in the distance. Wish i had taken my camera in the water to capture it.
But then again after my canoeing escapade where i drowned my new Canon 7.1 mpx camera I decided I'd be a bit more careful.
The temperature dropped significantly after sunset. We hopped back into the car and drove onward to Jerusalem.
It ain't that far from Ein Gedi. We were soon at the outskirts of the Holy city. There was a bit of a pile up for the security checks but it seemed to move rather quickly.
A quick
stop at the car rental to drop of the car and then onward to the hostel to check in.
Two of the guys would be leaving Israel that evening and so after a coffee we bid farewell to them and the three of us now continued down to the city for dinner.
I definately had the best shawarma ever out here in a tiny little restaurant. It beat the ones in Dubai.
There was a fairly nice pub by the center where we stopped for some Goldstars. Notice the blasphemous picture on the wall. Was rather surprised to see it in Jerusalem
Being quite tired after a long day we called it a night by 1am and decided to get up early the next morning instead.

Israel Blog - Diving at Eilat and lunch at a Bedouin tent
I had heard about the diving schools at Eilat and was quite eager to give it a shot. I also knew that apart from one of my mates, the rest wern't interested.
I had to
convince this guy to go diving and more so convince myself.
So I called up the school and reserved our slot and got them to pick us from the hostel at 9am.
Now there was no turning back..
The dive turned out just great! I hope to have some snaps from the underwater camera up here soon.
I never thought i'd actually manage to dive. It was a lot of fun and I plan to return for a week of diving when time permits.
All that water sure works up an apetite. The earlier evening i had got a tip from someone at hour hostel about the Bedouin tents for lunch.
I suggested to the bunch that we could head there. It didnt take much convincing.
The lunch and tea was so good that we lost track of the time. We spent an hour more than planned.
Without wasting much time we jumped back in the car and found the shortest route towards Ein Gedi.
We had to make it to the dead sea before dusk. That gave just 3 hours!
