You can travel to Semnan by taking the route connecting Tehran with Khorassan province. The beginning of the 10th century saw the city as an important place under the Al Ziyad dynasty and then the Al Booyeh dynasty. The Turks of Qaz were responsible for the destruction of the town in 1027 which was followed soon after by the Mongol invasion in 1218. But Semnan again bounced back to prosperity when the Safavid and Qajar kings came to the throne. It is a beautiful city today attracting many tourists from all around the world.

Attractions of the Town

Among the many places you can see when you travel to Semnan, are the ornamented minaret belonging to the 12th century and many huge places of worship. The bazaars of the city are famous for the local grains, tobacco and cotton. You can also find carpets and many kinds of textiles in these markets.

Accounts of the town tell you about the rivulets in it and the fine quality of the cotton textiles. A number of historical monuments can be found here including castles, palaces, buildings, caravansaries, towers, water reservoirs and many more. The region is famous for the castles of Saroo, Kushmoqan and Pachenar. The town is also known for its beautiful mosques and tombs.

Rituals and Traditions

Before you take a trip to Iran, you can find out about the natural beauty of the place. The region is famous for the river banks, mineral springs, forests, recreational areas, protected areas, caves, summits and peaks and many special desert features. You can also learn about the rituals and cultural traditions of the city when you travel to Semnan. These rituals are related to marriages ceremonies, religious festivals and mourning ceremonies that take place in the town. The area has also produced many notable poets and scholars.

A very important ritual of the city will surprise you when you take a trip to Iran. The people here do not wear black when they attend mourning ceremonies. This can be interpreted as a loathing for the black flag used by the Abbasian rulers or continuing their ancient traditions of Zoroastrianism. And as far as renowned statesmen are concerned, the city still continues to produce attractive personalities even today.
