This is just a quick in between blog because I know some of you have been in touch with Helen about the news coming out of Tehran at the moment. this is just really to say that we're sitting in a beautiful air conditioned hotel in the middle of Tehran and we have not seen any of the "riots". Everybody we have met is very friendly and happy to have us here. We have been to visit a very ornate palace this morning and going to see the crown jewels this afternoon. We leave Tehran tomorrow heading to the Turkmenstan border which we cross on Friday after a couple of nights roughing it!! The biggest threat we have come across is crossing a road here and taxi drivers!! We'll do another proper blog with more photos next time, and we are having the most fabulous experience! Love J&M
Retired, happy and spending the kids inheritance on our OAP gap year. Why should the youngsters have all the fun. We are travelling from Istanbul to Kathmandou for three months and we would be very happy if you would like to follow our progress. Hopefully we'll be in enough places where we are able to fire up the computer! See you soon, Chill Man! James and Margaret... full info
Known as Persia until 1935, Iran became an Islamic republic in 1979 after the ruling monarchy was overthrown and the shah was forced into exile. Conservative clerical forces established a theocratic system of government with ultimate political author...more info
What cool travellers! Hello, well, we weren't worried because we thought you'd already left! So now we are worried that you have another day to go! I'm reading a book about Iran at the moment and it's fascinating. Did you get to Persepolis? The author also says that crossing the roads are certainly an ordeal....it's great that between the Odhams' reporting and this story, we don't have to visit the place ourselves. Continue having a terrific time and enjoy the hotel comforts while you can. Keep safe out there. Lol ZnCxxxx
Safe and Sound Yes, we have been concerned as there has been many interesting news articles on TV. The weeks are flying past
and you are obviously having the BEST time.Work here is dire at the moment and today I went online to gaze at pictures of your
travels. Singapore Airways are offering very cheap flights to OZ and their website crashed as soon as I got onto it as I hope to go
again in March 2010.I will keep trying!
We are thinking so especially of a little two year old girl called Isabelle who is very poorly indeed at the moment and is in Southampton
Hospital undergoing Chemotherapy.Grandma lives at Hinton Martell.Jenny, Grandma , is very grateful fo all the care shown.
Rod and I are going down to Saltash at the weekend to stay with Rose and Mike. Rose is singing in a Choir which she has joined. They are
house hunting and Rose is job hunting again. However, she remains very happy and they are good together. Mike is heavily into extra exam
marking to swell their funds.
We all look forward to seeing new photos of the next installment and ask that you keep well and that Our God goes with you.? Remember Dave Allen.
love to u both x Rod and Carol
So glad to hear everything is still going well - we had been thinking about you when the election results were announced and news of the riots. But glad to hear you are getting some luxury amidst the roughing it.
