Boat trip
Synchronised swimming ! Wednesday 6th July 2011
Awake at our usual time and down for breakfast and back to the room and our last packing for a while.
Down to reception about 11 o'clock and pay our bill for the four nights. It was €70 per night including a good breakfast which, for a half decent hotel in the centre of a capital city, we thought was a very good price.
Then made our way to the Metro station and purchased our one way airport ticket. The fare is €8 for a single and for some reason €14 for a couple. One change on the Metro which we are getting to know well and then a train all the way out to the airport. The only thing is the Metro doesn't link directly into the airport, you come out of the station and think you are there, only to find that the airport is still across the other side of the road.
We checked in to our Aegean flight and ambled around looking at the shops for a while then moved through passport control and security with no issues.
Our flight was on time and passed by uneventfully, a
meal was included which was Octopus and Pasta. I ate the pasta!
We arrived at Larnaca 5 minutes early, gathered our luggage and met Carol who had very kindly "volunteered" to come and collect us. We left the airport car park at 1630 hours.
A pick up of bread and milk on the way and we were safely home.
The bad news was that the electricity had been cut off, but we had lots of torches and candles.
Pat also found that her wardrobe was full of mildew that had got into a lot of her clothes and shoes.
Anyway, we quickly figured out that we were going to be in Latchi tomorrow so could make a visit to the electricity people in Polis in the morning to see about reconnection.
Thursday 7th July, 2011
We had a dreadful nights sleep and got our stuff ready for the boat trip with the walking group. We had made no specific arrangements regarding this for two reasons, one we wanted to make sure we got back and two, we thought it would be a nice surprise.
Derek and Carol picked us up at 0830
and we made our way to Polis. We popped in to the electricity office and paid some money and the clerk assured us that we would be reconnected today.
Then on to Latchi for the boat trip.
We were met by our friends with a great deal of kissing and hugging and shaking of hands. Everyone seemed happy to see us. Then on to a very relaxing and enjoyable day on the boat Koula with wonderful weather and good company. Souvla and salad for lunch after a little swim.
The girls did their synchronised swimming bit and we all had a laugh watching them.
A very hot car and return journey to Pegeia.
Was the electricity going to be on? Yes it was, but guess what the water pump wasn't working so no water. If you didn't laugh you would cry. A quick phone call and fortunately, and surprisingly, not too long after the plumber turned up and we were back with water.
The end of our latest adventures were upon us, until the next time.....
