I'm not sure where is the best parts to go to, I understand it's hurricane season on the east coast so was thinking more on the west, but not too sure reallly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated from those of you that's been there at a similar time. Also how much is a realistic daily budget and what are the general costs of buses, accommodation (happy to go backpacker style), food, drinks (most importantly local alcoholic beverages!!), trips etc. I'm hoping to get some relaxed beach time without the backdrop of high rise apartment and hotel blocks, some trekking, ruin visiting, jungle time, surfing and diving. Mmmmm alot for a month, but just putting ideas together at the moment. Any help would be great!! You can also easily get to the Indian villages around it by taking the mini busses near the market that the Indians use to get to them. Bring a sweater. It is at a quite high altitude so can be cold up there. I also suggest that you buy a Lonely Planet book of Mexico. It is available in most book shops around the world for around 30 Euros. It has information about safety, budget, accomodation, transport, suggested itineries...... I think these areas would provide everything you have asked for, as mel suggested the loney planet guide would be a good start. Although the info is a bit outdated now it does give a good indication of prices and is worth the $. West coast has great surfing, not sure about diving and some great quite beaches. Im currently in Queretaro (well worth the visit if have the time), im paying $250 a month rent for a nice apartment, travelling ive paid about $2 for camp site or free on the beach but less secure, backpackers about $4-9. Food is very cheap depending on how good your stomach is....street food about $1-2, and can pay anything above that in restaurants. Now the best part...cantina close to my house has litre of beer for $2.5 with great snacks, 6 pack will cost ~$4.5 in supermarket, bars charge ~$1.5 and up for a beer depending on quality of the place. Spirits are good cheap option. Local buses cost about $0.50, long distances buses are also cheap eg mexico city to oaxaca about $35 (~7 hours). Prices are approx US$. Besides LP guide, search the net and other forums for more up to date info. hope that was helpful. cheers jordan Blondekate Kate Easter Post Count: 3 Msg: #4 2 hours ago, May 13th 2008 | Thanks Mel and Jordan for all your info and help. Having spent hours discussing with the other two who are now definately going we have decided to head to Brazil. Originally I didn't think it would be safe to travel on my own but now I have a guy who'll be with me for the whole month and another girl whose joining us for 2 1/2 weeks i've decided to go. So will be posting on that forum shortly. | Thanks again though. Kate Number of Users: 3 | Number of Posts: 4 | ||||||||||||
