Debs1 Debbie Scott Post Count: 5 Msg: #1 161 days ago, May 5th 2008 | I am trying to find volunteer work in Africa, preferably Tanzania and Zanzibar. Does anyone have any contacts and/or experiences to share? | Mell Mel Fla Post Count: 4121 Msg: #2 161 days ago, May 5th 2008 | Hello Debs :) | I would avoid paying to volunteer, which seems to be a business by itself. Rather, before your travelling, once you have more or less an itinerary in your mind, contact some of the expats there on the ground. Try Expats in Africa . This is a small but very active blog community. Many of them either work in the aid-world or at least will know people that can help you. So contact those on the ground directly. Obviously too many companies have climbed on the bandwagon to make money from basically decent people. Will have a look at the site. Have you any experience in aid work? Where are you based? | Mell Mel Fla Post Count: 4121 Msg: #4 161 days ago, May 5th 2008 | No, I dont have any experience in aid work Debs. A guy who is a UN humanatarian aid worker suggested the above to me. | He has plenty of exprience. :) I will send you some contact details and information about him via private message.
