IndianGuru Satish Talim Post Count: 2 Msg: #1 14 days ago, April 29th 2008 | In June 2008, I plan to visit Washington DC, Raleigh in North Carolina and Nashville in Tennessee. I have 2 days in DC, 1.5 days in Raleigh and 3 days in Nashville. I want to move around and see all that is there to see in these places, savor the local food and wine. I will search on Google and find out but all your suggestions are most welcome. | IUMy23 Maya Northen (McGee) Post Count: 37 Msg: #2 12 days ago, May 1st 2008 | Hi Satish! My brother lives right outside of DC so I hope I can help with a few things. I more have tips than specific places to visit but I think they will still be useful to you. First, many of the museums and sites in D.C. are free because they are considered Smithsonian's. I would definitely check out the "mall" (big green grassy area, not actual shopping mall!) where the Washington monument is ... it is kind of the hub of activity there and you can branch out from there. The Air and Space Museum is a favorite of many people. There is the Lincoln Memorial as well which many people like to visit. I particularly like the zoo - they are famous because (besides being one of the largest zoos and being free), they often have the giant panda exhibit. I have to say I'm not sure if there are currently any pandas there now, but either way the zoo is worth a visit. Those are just a few things off the top of my head. This site should list all the Smithsonian's - there are 19 I believe so right there gives you plenty to fill your two days: http://www.si.edu/ | Sorry I know this is kind of generic, but it might give you a good start. Also, for getting around DC, the metro is really easy and the main station there (I believe it's called Metro Center) is actually quite nice, with shops and a big food court... a lot of people go there to walk around even if they are not taking the metro. I hope this helps! IndianGuru Satish Talim Post Count: 2 Msg: #3 12 days ago, May 2nd 2008 | Thanks. This is useful. I definitely have the Air and Space Museum in mind. I shall plan and chalk out the other places - zoo is definitely one of them. | Number of Users: 2 | Number of Posts: 3 | |||||||||||
