Mullymulli John Mullally Post Count: 1 Msg: #1 18 days ago, April 28th 2008 | In April of 2009 I will be taking a 1 month long trip to Europe with a friend of mine. We will start in Dublin, Ireland, then go to London, then to Brussels, then Paris, Rome, Vienna, Munich, Amsterdam, then back to Ireland. I have been looking up possible hostels to stay in on hostelworld.com. The main reason i am posting is to find out any recommendations on what to pack and bring with me. We will only have our back packs to carry everything. If anyone could make a recommendation on what to bring and even what backpack would be the best i would greatly appreciate it. | Thanks! You might also look into camping in Europe as it is a great and cheap way to see Europe and most places have bungalows and cottages to rent and some are like 5 star resorts for very little. | We have been traveling Europe ( and Turkey & Morocco) for almost 2 years via RV and list great campgrounds for almost all of the places that you have mentioned. Check out our blog at http://www.soultravelers3.com Soultravelers3 We each went into Turkey for over a month with just a very small day pack each and that included a laptop and homeschool supplies! You really do not need much to travel. Get one of those fast drying towels, they can also be used as a blanket, sarong, shawl and fold down to nothing. Wear mostly black & things that dry very quickly. You will have a great time! german sue miller Post Count: 1 Msg: #4 9 days ago, May 7th 2008 | hey, as German wanted to tell you not to worry to much about it. As the others said just pack light, everything you need or forget you can buy. the question would be if you are travelling by train or plane once you are in Europe. There are tons of cheap flights however there are some rules with luggage. Usually hostels have laundry services and you can always buy some cheap shirts just in case. In all of these countries you can drink the water from the sink that saves a lot as well. | I wish you a wonderful trip and I hope you will enjoy Munich! K A K Post Count: 7 Msg: #5 4 days ago, May 11th 2008 | I would highly recommend the Osprey Porter. It is affordable, versatile, and fits the airlines guidlines for carry-ons. You should try and bring appropriate clothes for the weather in these countries. Also, for the clothes you want to make sure that all of your shirts, sweaters, pants, and shorts can be interchanged. With keeping this in mind you can bring 3 t-shirts, a couple sweaters, a pair of pants, and a couple of pairs of shorts and be able to interchange to make 15+ outfits. Also try and bring sythetics that dry quickly. It is quite simple to wash an outfit in the sink the night before and have them be dry by morning. Try to focus on the bear necessities (pun intended) and you will enjoy your trip. Pack more than you need and too many of your memories will come back to all the shit you had to lug around Europe. | Number of Users: 5 | Number of Posts: 5 | |||||||||||||
