Hey folks,

Just looking for some advice as to which city people have found the best for meeting people, nightlife, quality of time etc. etc.

Don't have too much time to spare so looking to spend a few days in probably 2 or 3 cities & trying to tentatively plan a route starting from the North East of the country.

I'll likely be traveling on my own, probably at the start of June some time.

Any advice, stories or the usual would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Scott

Hello Scott :)

I was in Rome a couple of times in the last year. I had no trouble meeting people there and the night life was pretty good. Well it was at the weekend anyway. During the day you can meet plenty of people by hanging out in cafes.

Hi Scott,

Rome is amazing, you won't be disapointed visiting there. North East.... so you will start in Venice i'm guessing? Venice has NO nightlife. it's a surreal place, especially if you can find the locals district and away from the tourists , and well worth seeing, but everywhere closes at 12. Verona, quite near to Venice is a great city, great people, great nightlife, great buzz. Steer clear of Turin, not much to see there except football, but the Valley D'Aosta to there north is beautiful. Lake Garda is a good stop too. Milan is nice if you like shopping but not much else. Nightlife is good though. Hope some of this useful.

Ciao Scott!

My name's Silvio and i live in Italy, in Valmadrera a little town across the Lake of Como.
I Can help you but you must excuse me because i don't speek/write english very vell...

If you wont start your italian tour from the Nord Est, you must visit Venezia (Venice), you can sleep in a town near Venice, the town name is Lido di Jesolo, a very good town across the Adriatic Sea,and go to Venice with a Boat.
This Boat start from the near town of Punta Sabbioni and previous Venice do the tour of the Laguna Veneta Isle.

The Next city is Como and the Lake of Como (George Clooney house...clooney is not stupid...hehe..), there is no words to describe this poetic paradaise, please digit ComoLake in Google and look..
In Google.it image digit: Villa Balbianello, Como, Villa Monastero, Varenna, Ossuccio, Isola Comacina, Lecco, Villa Este, Tremezzo, Nesso, Malgrate,ecc...
Milan is near Como (45minute on Car), the NightLife on the center of Milan is very Very beautiful: Pub/Disco/Bowling/Girls/Music/Wine/Game and more...
In Como's zone you can eat the optimal Cheese and Pasta and drunk the excelsious red wine Sforzato di Valtellina.

The next city is... the Five Land's, an area near Genova or La Spezia, you can stay here 2 Days and visit the nature work, swimming on the Ligure Sea, eating fish and drunk a very good white wine: the Sciachetrà of 5 Terre.

The next city is Firenze (Florence in english), an irripetible experience of Art, History, Architecture, Food!, Wine! You can eat the Bistecca Fiorentina, a big Suine Steak of 1KG, and Drunk The Brunello di Montalcino Wine...

The next city is Roma (Rome), and i don't have words to describe Rome...All people of the world must visit Rome!! Is important, is the History of the ancient world.

This tour take 2 week!
