My first stop will be in Newark with a layover for 2 1/2 hours before connecting to Chicago Ohare. I will flying Continental for both flights, but my friend told me I will have to recheck all my luggage upon arrive in Newark and then go through immigration. | Can anyone walk me through this procedure upon my arrival in Newark- I don't think I'm going to have any time to ask questions with so short a layover time. If anyone can tell me where to claim my luggage and pass through immigration location wise in Newark Liberty International Airport I would be much obliged. I'm very nervous as it's only my second flight ever and I reeeeeally need to catch my connection. Is it even possible? Please let me know as soon as possible what sort of ID I need and what they do before May 1st- I leave May 2nd. trjnsarah Sarah Robinson Post Count: 5 Msg: #2 97 days ago, April 20th 2008 | You will have to claim your bags, go through immigration, and then recheck them but since you're traveling on the same airline you hopefully won't have to change terminals. You should be fine with your connection if your flight gets into Newark on time. When I returned home from studying in Spain I managed to make a connection in Chicago in 40 minutes, but it did involve running! Best of luck | red 333 Laura Post Count: 3 Msg: #3 97 days ago, April 20th 2008 | What does going through immigration entail? I think I'll have to change terminals- but the terminals are 4 min apart by shuttle ride. | trjnsarah Sarah Robinson Post Count: 5 Msg: #4 97 days ago, April 20th 2008 | they'll just look at your passport and collect your customs form. If you've been abroad for a long time, they will probably ask where you were and why. As long as you're not bringing anything illegal back home, you'll be fine. | red 333 Laura Post Count: 3 Msg: #5 96 days ago, April 21st 2008 | I have a question for anyoe who's gone through EWR from an international flight. How long does it usually take to get through immigration/customs and then recheck all you luggage for another flight? I also have to switch terminals and I was wondering how I should do that. Do I collect my bags and then find the airtrack monorail and ride with all my luggage so that I can check in at the other terminal? I am going from terminal C to A on continental for a flight to Chicago. Where is the airtrack located in the C terminal? Oh geeez it'd just be really nice if someone could walk me through this process so I don't have to waste time asking when I arrive- I HAVE to make this connecting flight. ugh. I just read on another site that immigration can take upwards 2 hours!!! Is this for real? | Number of Users: 2 | Number of Posts: 5 | |||||||||||||
