I just bought my tickets - can't believe it. Will be in Mongolia for July5th-23rd. Any recommendations for how much I need to plan in advance or how much I can organize once I'm there. I am interested in trekking (obviously).

Thanks - that looks like a good organization. I am going alone - I was thinking of signing up with a group called Ger to Ger. Has anyone had experiences with them?

Hi Sarahlina and Hi All,

I am Mongolian, live in overseas, Just for a little advise. As you asked, the budget for per day? it depends on how many days are you going to stay in Mongolia, generally say in UB USD50-70 will be ok, do the job, including 3 meals and hostel etc. But it is not inlcuded entrence fees for any sort of museum and sighseeings. Please be advised that do not expect too much in Mongolia, there is a lot of inflation, changes on the costs. Generally say UB is very rough, tough and messy place, hastle bastle city. I heard that it has changed a lot since economic reforms, it is highly corrupted place. It gives you one side very communist nastalgia and other hand you can see the economic boomings. Mongolians are very friendly and most warm hearted people, but you can see various of behave in one day, fighting, drunks, angry and happy etc. After all it is good place to be there and also fun place to visit, it is a full of adventure, plus countryside gives you real universe feeling, you wil feel that how beautiful this earth is!
By the way I am going to Mongolia on 26 June till 12 July, if you need any further assistance please let me know, I am happy to help you out for your adventure trip to Mongolia

Regards, Jackie

Thanks Jackie - I am spending the Naadam festival with a group called Ger to Ger but I haven't picked another travel company yet. I wanted to spend most of my time in the countryside and not the city. Is there a trekking agency yu are familiar with that you recommend?
