Latina is a new city born in 1932 with the name of Littoria, 62 KM from Rome and its coast is the same one that goes to Naples. Sea side its beautiful starting from Sabaudia, San Felice Circeo & Terracina. Very beautiful are also the small villages located on the Lepini hills, like Sezze, the salubrity of the climate has been appreciated and praised since the Roman Age and has been confirmed from recent studies. According to a legend, the city was founded by the mythical hero Hercules after his victory on the Lestrigones, a population of southern Lazio; Sermoneta a medieval town and castle ; Ninfa a WWF oasis with a faboulus garden made inside the ruins of a medieval city. From Latina & Sezze there is a train every 40 minutes that goes to Rome and Naples and also to Caserta and Pompei. Pontine islands , Ponza, Ventotene and Zannone are wonderful and there is a boat that departs from Anzio and Terracina. Especially in Sezze and Latina there are lots of self catering houses that owners rent for one week or less days and costs are still quite low respect to the hotels. This is a perfect area also for who wants to visit Rome and Naples but does not want to stay in the city centre and enjoy hills and sea at the same time. Take a look to the web sites: www.villarenters.com or www.homelidays.com you may find a good hotel alternative renting houses searching by location, cost etc.... In these places, still untouched from the huge tourism of the big cities you may still tuch how italians live normally and also joyn the same shops without spending lot of money!
