Florida Rubia Carmen Post Count: 9 Msg: #1 184 days ago, April 11th 2008 | We are traveling over to Barcelona in July with our kids. What are the best areas to stay in? Places where we can walk around, nice restaurants, shops nearby, not to far from the metro. | Andy Clarke Andy Clarke Post Count: 4 Msg: #2 184 days ago, April 11th 2008 | El Born is lovely - it's close to the centre (Ramblas) but has plenty of cafes and restaurants of its own. It's also handy for the metro. You could try looking for an apartment on holiday-rentals.co.uk or ownersdirect.co.uk. | We stayed on the opposite side of the Ramblas at Rambla de Raval - this area is cheaper but scruffier and the cafes are more for students than families. Is it easy to get around the city on the metro? | ilchicag Liz Post Count: 48 Msg: #4 184 days ago, April 11th 2008 | Yeah, when I was in BCN I didn't speak an ounce of Catalan or Spanish and only had a free tourist map to get me around. I was able to figure it out fairly quick and it was impressed with the speed and extensiveness of the network especially to the "major sites." Have fun! | tedandjane Ted and Jane Post Count: 13 Msg: #5 178 days ago, April 17th 2008 | I would try and stay as close to the centre of the Ramblas as possible. Try here: Barcelona City Break Hotels | deleted_17518 deleted Post Count: 92 Msg: #6 178 days ago, April 17th 2008 | El Born is a good tip there is alot of good cheap accomodation , it' a really good area in the centre and you have 3 or 4 metro station nearby...maybe it's better not really near to Santa Maria del Mar because in summer nights there are a lot of tourists every where and I think it's really hard to sleep. Eixample district it's really nice but quite expensive, Barcelona it's a very beautifull city I love it!!! | PatSmith Pat Smith Post Count: 8 Msg: #7 160 days ago, May 5th 2008 | It is defenitely good to be in the city centre. You have all shops, restaurants and also the beach. | If you are going with your kids I would reccommend you to have a flat which will make you feel more like home in the city. A good tip, if you want to know more about the city or if you want to look for an accommodation is to check out this web-site: www.barcelona-home.com They rent out short-term and long-term flats in the city centre and also have other services which you can find out more about on their web-site. I hope your family gets a good time in Barcelona!!! There is lots of street entertainment with buskers etc and lots of restaurants and bars there. The website: www.feelathomebarcelona.com I believe it's a nice area, and very centrally located to everything. We are looking forward to it! Both are close to everything and you can get some great value apartments for your family. I've used this company barcelona accommodation before but there are many others to choose from. | Number of Users: 9 | Number of Posts: 11 | |||||||||||||||||||
