| How much should I budget for a trip to Australia? | |||||||||||||||
Miraz Miraz Post Count: 6 Msg: #1 94 days ago, April 2nd 2008 | My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Australia in July and August and would appreciate some advice on how much money we're likely to need. We're going to backpack the East Coast for 5 weeks and have internal flights between Melbourne, Sydney and Cairns. We're probably going to stay in Hostels most of the time but the odd B&B would proabably go down well too! | Thanks for your help... :-) Martina TC Martina Jorden Post Count: 23 Msg: #2 84 days ago, April 13th 2008 | Hi Miraz, | This is an impossible question to answer really without knowing your budget. You'll be arriving during winter, so accommodation will be a bit cheaper. You'll find B&B's by searching the internet. For budget accommodation, besides YHA's go to www.hostelworld.com You'll get cheap flights during Virgin airline's "Happy Hour" from 12pm to 1pm each day, but destinations are random. If you're going to fly from Sydney to Cairns, I'd recommend flying to Brisbane from Cairns, then purchasing a bus pass from Brisbane to Sydney so that you can get off along the way. I would highly recommend stopping at the Gold Coast, Byron Bay and Coffs Harbour. If you get off at Coffs Harbour, you should try and visit the hinterland, especially Bellingen. They have a YHA there and a few B&B's. These places all have websites to find out what to see and do and where to stay. I've written some articles on the Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour and Ballarat near Melbourne which you might find useful (www.travelplanningchecklist.com) Cheers, Martina Number of Users: 2 | Number of Posts: 2 | ||||||||||
