As this is a live vaccine, people often have reactions to it and it's a bit dangerous... so has anyone had it? did you react to it at all? | Betty123 Betty Scoggins Post Count: 3 Msg: #2 194 days ago, April 2nd 2008 | I had the yellow fever vaccine in February. It was required for my trip to Tanzania. I had no reaction to it except for a bit of soreness at the injection site. My step-daughter who was traveling with me did feel a bit ill for 2 days. However, nobody asked to see our shot records during our trip. | The Travel Camel Shane Dallas Post Count: 185 Msg: #3 192 days ago, April 3rd 2008 | I also had my shot in February and felt a bit average a couple of days later - and also had minor soreness at the injection site. However, I did fall quite sick about 8 days after the shot and had a week off work, but not sure if that was related to the Yellow Fellow vaccine or something else. | amyhelenor amy vos Post Count: 39 Msg: #4 191 days ago, April 4th 2008 | oh, ok thanks! | also, could you tell me about how long before your trip you got the vaccination, how much did it cost etc? just roughly? The Travel Camel Shane Dallas Post Count: 185 Msg: #5 191 days ago, April 4th 2008 | The cost depends on the country, but the vaccine becomes effective 10 days after inoculation, and it provides protection for 10 years. | Betty123 Betty Scoggins Post Count: 3 Msg: #6 191 days ago, April 5th 2008 | I found that our local health department had the cheapest prices...It cost me $95.00 for my yellow fever shot. | Betty123 Betty Scoggins Post Count: 3 Msg: #7 191 days ago, April 5th 2008 | I got my yellow fever injection the first week in February and left for Tanzania on March 12th. | amyhelenor amy vos Post Count: 39 Msg: #8 187 days ago, April 8th 2008 | also, I can't remember if it was a one-off shot or a course of 3? | Kate in Africa Kate Henschel Post Count: 14 Msg: #9 186 days ago, April 10th 2008 | Yellow fever is just a one shot deal, and $95 sounds about right. I got it about four months before I left for Senegal, but I also got it along with a polio booster and a typhoid vaccine. I had a fever, and my arm was quite swollen and sore. My doctors tend to think the reaction was due to the typhoid shot, though. | Number of Users: 4 | Number of Posts: 9 | |||||||||||||||||
