Best Australia adventure travel companies?

Looking for recommendations of good companies as well as those to stay away from.

My family and I are looking at taking a trip through the Outback in July or August. I've traveled with many companies (Mountain Travel, Geographic Expeditions, etc.) and want to know what other companies people have traveled with. What great trips have you taken and with whom? What companies would you never travel with again? Has anyone taken a G.A.P. Adventures trip in Australia? There seems to be a lot of mixed opinions on their practices and they were one of the companies I was seriously considering.
