North sumatra lies between 10 - 40 north latitude and 980- 1000 east longitude, its just below the province of Aceh, and strait of Mallacca in the East and the Indonesia Oceans in the west, covering a land area of 71,680 square kilometers. Its populations is 10,256,027. The province of north Sumatera consists of 17 regions, 11(eleven) districts and 6(six) municipalities, 2 administrative town, 209 subdistricts, and 5,665 villages North Sumatera capital of Medan is the western gateway to Indonesia, facing the Malaya peninsula cross the Malacca strait with the population of 1,807,466 lives. Medan before and today has two looks that can compared with the new development and the historical remain of dutch rule. All of these conveying a significant and impressive traveling and touring. The people on North Sumatera are hospitable and warm hearted. They include many different ethnic groups called “Suku Bangsa “. The five main ethnic groups in North Sumatera are as follows bellow: 1. The coastral Malays -along the coast of Mallacca straits. 2. The Karonese, Simalungun, Dairi and the Toba Batak grouos in the highlands around Lake Toba and Samosir Island. 3. The Pesisirs (Central Tapanuli ) along the coast the Indonesia Ocean. 4. The Mandailing / Angkola (South Tapanuli ) in the South. 5. The Nias people in Nias island.
