| Possible to stay in Rom. countryside with locals, and how do I do it? | ||||||||||||||||||
Irishman77 Peter Post Count: 2 Msg: #1 111 days ago, March 16th 2008 | I'm just wondering about the accomodation situation in Romania. I'm heading there with my girlfriend for two weeks beginning in the first week of April. I was wondering if I need to pre book all the hostels beforehand or wether it's safe enough to arrive early in a city like Arad, Bucharest and Sibiu with just a map and some addresses? | ! particularly hope to stay in some of the smaller villages. I'd prefer to give my money to a local economy rather than throw it at the larger hostels and hotels in around the capital. Has anyone any idea how I, if at all possible, can arrange a room for the night or two with locals in private homes? If anyone has any useful advice or experience, please help me! Cheers. I was able to find accomodation in every town without any trouble. But when u can book hostels on the internet these days why not do it. I stayed in a private house once. Somebody I met invited me to stay with her at her parents house. I dont know if there is an organisation which can set u up with places to stay in private houses. Maybe just arrive in the villages and ask if there is anyone who can put u up. I know a guy who used to do that because he was on an even too low a budget to stay at hostels. People would let him stay at their house for even cheaper than the hostel. But I have not been to Romania for 10 years. ......
