Soccer Game in Europe during the month of July?

 Europe
Would there be any soccer/football games in July?

My friend and I are traveling in Europe between July 5 and August 5. I know that July is a bad time to watch soccer (football) games in Europe, since most leagues are not playing. But we would still like to go see one, even if it's the friendly games. Does anyone know if there is any?

Hi Mel!

I think we are willing to change our dates a little to make it to the football games, since they are so rare in July it seems. But it might look something like this:

Jul 6- July 10 Barcelona
July 10 - July 15 Paris
July 15 - July 31 somewhere in Germany and Autria, undecided.
July 31 - Aug 5 Italy

Thanks a bunch!

I posted your question on a football forum Wanderlust. If anyone can say when the football games are those guys can.
Nobody came up with any answers yet so it looks like July is indeed a quiet month for football.
If anyone gives any information I will post it here.

Wanderlust,

Next season's fixtures won't be available at this stage (have to wait until this season is over), but the Austrian and Swiss leagues start in early July so you should be able to get to a game in either country. www.soccerway.com will have details of the fixtures, when they are announced (but check the exact match dates with club websites as soccerway often just says which weekend they are). If you're heading to Italy, it's not much further to Slovenia or Croatia, where the season starts at the end of July. I went to Rijeka v Cibalia in the Croatian league last July - the stadium is carved into the rocks next to the Adriatic. I'd also recommend going to a match in Ljubljana, because it's such a great place to visit.
You should also look out for the draws for the Uefa Cup qualifiers, as these take place in late July. Swiss and Austrian teams will be involved (www.uefa.com).
