The distance is 3000 kms. You could do a 20 hour bus BA to Bariloche, rest a day or two and bus on from there. Chalten travel does the trip in, if I remember correctly, two days of about 15 hours of travel with an overnight stop in the town of Perito Moreno. However the trip to El Calafate is really long and it would be a good idea to stop somewhere on the way (e.g. Peninsula Valdez). Then you will have to change buses in Rio Gallegos if I remember correctly. Going south from Bariloche along Ruta 40 is also possible but there are few and less comfortable buses, and I think it takes longer. | Check out Andesmar, Retiro, Plataforma10. Cheers!
